As kit kat is supposed to be efficient on ram usage can you share the free ram out of the box?

Yes it updated to 4.4.2. Got the micro Sim activated only an hr ago. So now using the Moto G properly. The phone is butter smooth. Loved the UI and the dialer and everything so far about it.

Its too early to say anything about the battery life. May be after a couple of days of useage. The moto assist is a fantastic feature.

Also got 50GB drive storage free for 2 years. I mean how much can a company give for $200?? Seeing this I feel others are just ripping us customers.

Regards ,

Forgot to add this. One issue I noticed is that on the Tbhp app the lower panel is hidden behind the soft on screen buttons.

@mods pls merge this with the above post. On mobile app and unable to add pic in edit mode.

Regards,
Good to read your experiences. I use the nexus 4 and feel that the Moto G is like a junior Nexus. It surely is the phone to beat for anyone looking for a great phone at a great price. 100 times better than going in for the cheaper brands that are popular in India these days, IMHO.

Re: Android Thread: Phones / Apps / Mods

Updated my Nexus 4 to 4.4.2 and there is some major heating issues. This was initially observed when I got my phone last year with Android 4.2. During continuous usage on 3G or Wi-Fi the area near the camera gets heated. This time again after upgrading to 4.4.2, am facing the same issues.

Also, suddenly Google+ seems to be eating away my battery life. I don't use any social networking site on my phone except for twitter maybe and Google+ is somehow activated on its own and uses ~60% of my battery life all of a sudden. This really sucks, cause I can live with turning off my data usage but not with a dead phone.

100% agree with your statement. I have nexus 4 and now got Moto G, it is younger brother of nexus.

Battery life came around for 1 day 10 hours and still 10% remaining. And this is with 3g on, what's app and regular calls.

Re: Android Thread: Phones / Apps / Mods

Guys,

After 2 days of use age i can safely say that Moto G is one of the best Phones i have used. Its fluidic, Smooth and lag free. Battery is pretty awesome. Now one issue i noticed is this:

I send out multi sms to my friends 2 mobile numbers. Till i was on Samsung i never faced this mms issue. As soon as I add 2 numbers in a sms Recipient it changes to MMS. Please see screen shots below.

Now, both the numbers i am sending sms to are saved as "Mobile" in my contact list.

Android Thread: Phones / Apps / Mods-2-sms.png

Android Thread: Phones / Apps / Mods-mms.png

I first thought that its just showing up as MMS but sending out normal sms only, but later i got to know from my friend who i was texting that he is receiving my sms on one number and mms on his other number.

Regards,

Guys,

Found the solution. Its a setting that I over looked. Never had to bother earlier so didn't go in that direction.

Found some posts which suggest that moto G in India will be dual SIM. If true, will have to choose between the galaxy s3 or S4 mini. I don't want dual sim phone.

Can nexus 4 users please tell which among the three - S3, S4 mini and nexus 4 has a better screen.

I know the s4 mini does not have a full hd screen. But it is 2/3 k below the s3.

S4 mini is a dual sim phone. So I guess you're left to chose between S3and Nexus4.

S3 and Nexus 4 have different types of screens. S3 has Super Amoled display so colours are saturated while Nexus has IPS LCD so colours are more natural. My brother is using Nexus 4 and the screen is excellent. And performance wise Nexus 4 is much smooth to operate as it doesnt have any bloatware as compared to samsung. So my vote goes for Nexus 4.

Not to forget the 2GB RAM on Nexus 4 vs 1 GB RAM On the S3. This makes a world of difference on the performance. The only thing that the S3 beats Nexus 4 is on the camera part.

Re: Android Thread: Phones / Apps / Mods

Have anyone upgraded the android version for Samsung Note 2 from 4.1.2 ? I see that US versions get firmware upgrade, however when I updated the software OTA it is still in 4.1.2

Yes I have upgraded mine to 4.3. Was done around a month back actually. It was done through OTA only. FYI mine was bought in India only.
