Hey Tarun, have you updated to 4.4.4? I updated as soon as I got the phone a week back and the battery life is pretty pathetic. I read up and in some places it seems to be an issue with the update. If not, I want to get it replaced under warranty ASAP!

I am using "cm-11-20141008-SNAPSHOT-M11-i9300.zip". This rom is quite stable for phone functions.

Things that do not work:

1. FM Radio
2. Video on web pages

Re: Android Thread: Phones / Apps / Mods

Google is expected to unveil Android L (5.0, Lemon Pie, Lion, etc...), Nexus 6 and Nexus 9 devices today.

Does anyone have any idea which all devices are eligible to get the Android L update? How far back is Samsung ready to go to retain the customer base?

Nexus 5 , Nexus 7 2013 will get andorid L.
Nexus 10,Nexus 7 2012 and Nexus 4 may not get android L.

From the Samsung stable I think only S4, Note 3, S5 will get them for sure. Other devices may not get it.
The Samsung grand batch wont get it.

Purchased moto g2 for my father a little over month ago and I use it intermittently. Very happy with the phone and the battery life. Call reception is excellent and active noise cancelation does it's job beautifully. The memory management by Motorola is very good. Best part is phone does not heat up even when playing games which really shows the quality of the product as a whole. Worth the money. I also have a Redmi 1S. Although the latter is more attractive looking, usability wise I preferred moto g2

It's called Lollypop after all.
And it appears Nexus 4 may not get the upgrade.

Details here: http://www.cnet.com/news/google-unve...ayer-streamer/

"The Nexus 6 has a curved aluminum frame, dual front-facing speakers, a 13-megapixel camera and a Quad HD display. It also comes with a Turbo Charger, allowing the device to get six hours of use with only a 15-minute charge".

Nexus 7 2012 owners, rejoice!

It has been confirmed that the Tegra 3 device will be updated to Lollipop as well.

Oh, and Motorola has confirmed that ALL of its new phones will get the Lollipop update. Yup, that includes the humble Moto E as well.

Re: Android Thread: Phones / Apps / Mods

Anyone using a Custom ROM for Samsung Galaxy Grand Neo (GT-I9060) ?
I am waiting for the full CM 11 ROM, which will take some time.

http://forum.xda-developers.com/andr...i9060-t2893802

In the meanwhile if I could use another ROM.
Samsung Touchwiz is killing me !! I have rooted the phone and managed to get some of the Samsung bloatware removed. Still the phone is very slow.

Just came to know about Lenovo S860 with 4000mAh battery. Any idea how the handset is?
It's a crap phone from Lenovo. I bought it for my mother. Have the following issues -
1) Low Wi-Fi- Signals
2) Poor Network connectivity
3) Too laggy and slow even after numerous updates from Lenovo.
4) Battery practically lasts to 24-30 hrs.
5) Poor re-sale.

I am also looking for a phone to replace my Mom's crappy Lenovo S860 under 20k -
Shortlisted -
1) Moto X (1st Gen) - 18k
+ Good specs, Decent hardware, Reliable
- Small screen (4.7 in), Avg. Battery life.

2) Huawei Honor 6 - 20k
+ Good Looks, Full HD 5 in display, Great Hardware for the price
- Real-world peformance unknown as in the case of Lenovo, Reliability, Re-sale & service

If can wait till December, we may get -
1) OnePlus One - approx 20-25k (It's still available on ebay.in for 29k after coupon discounts)
+ Great Hardware and Software, Zero laggy performance, Decent Battery life, definitely better than Huawei Honor6 and Moto X (1st Gen)

2) Launch of Nexus 6 in November will subsequently bring the prices of Nexus 5 down. I think it may be available for 18-25k at that time. Nexus 5 is awesome hardware and Software, Reliable, Perfect screen size, decent battery life, good re-sale, great camera.

Yeah, I updated as soon as Moto pushed released 4.4.4. Have you tried a factory reset after the update ? That sometimes fixes these battery drain issues.

Re: Android Thread: Phones / Apps / Mods

IMO anything over 5" of screen size is just overkilling it.. And 6" is just too much. Don't know about others, but I feel, companies have mostly got into a 'screen-size' war, where the latest iterations are ought to have a bigger screen size, no matter what; whether its needed or not.

Atleast to me, it is cumbersome to haul such a big phone in my pant's pocket. Or carry it around in hand.. I am the last person to buy a smartphone based on its oh-so massive screen size.

It is for a friend of mine. and he is particular about a 24hour+ battery life.

Aah! Thanks a lot for the info. He almost decided on the Lenovo. I will ask him to consider your choices as well!

Cheers.
