re: Android Thread: Phones / Apps / Mods

I decided not to get updates from LG as I would lose the ability to root my phone if I install the updates.

How do you manage to get 3 days of battery life? I hardly get a day of battery life. Pl. let me know, apart from accelerometer and brightness, what other tweaks you have done?

You can also try disabling "Heptic" feedback. Makes way for a lot of battery life.

re: Android Thread: Phones / Apps / Mods

Wifi drains the batter out like anything. Today using the SL without Wifi, lets see how does it perform.

Btw.. don't know whether it s a bug or what. I installed winamp in it and played one song. After that closed winamp, phone was also restarted a couple of times, and I used the stock Music player from there on. However every time I used to plug out the headphones, winamp opened automatically and started to play the song I played in it once. :S Have uninstalled winamp..

My stock set up was 2.2.1 and there was no straight forward way of rooting it. So I moved to 2.2.2. If you are on 2.2 not upgrading is a better option. Wish I bought one with 2.2. No major changes that I could see till now on 2.2.2.

re: Android Thread: Phones / Apps / Mods

Budget 13K max. any suggestions for an Android phone in that budget?
Options I see are:
HTC A3333 Wildfire
Dell XCD35

I'm not very keen on Samsung but would still consider one if someone has good experience with latest Samsung phones.

LG Optimus One. Best value for the money. 11k with bill n warranty. Runs froyo, and might get update for gingerbread.

I think there is a Samsung Galaxy Android with 3.5 inch screen within that budget. Should be good.

Otherwise for about 11k you can get an LG Optimus 1.

Thanks for the suggestion.
Somehow I don't find LG phones well build. I may be wrong as I haven't seen any of their Android phones.

Then it is time you saw one. It is much better than your other options.

I have an LG Optimus one and I don't see any issue with build quality so far ( its about a month of extremely heavy usage :-). But Samsung phones at this range ( Wave, Galaxy 3(?), POP) do feel lighter and compact.

Use the advanced task killer to auto-kill tasks when screen locks. Also use the widget of the task killer and kill tasks whenever you use the phone. You can add some tasks to the ignore list if you want them to run in the background. Disable haptic feedback, animations etc.

Use a lighter background picture. I use a background of a tree with red leaves in a snowy mountain. Read somewhere that LCDs are more efficient in utilising battery when we use white images.

I leave the phone's battery to get till atleast 7% before I recharge it. Hope it helps.
