Try selling your G6 on OLX. You will get much better value.
I sold my wife's two and a half year old Lg G6 4gb 64b variant (imported) for Rs 6500/-. This is just 10 days back.

True. I just realized that this is the 9810! 10nm technology vs the SD855 7nm or the Exynos 9820 (8nm) of the S10. Not a good deal at all. I would not buy this phone Compared

Re: Android Thread: Phones / Apps / Mods

Got 10 update for my phone (MiA2) couple of days back. I am fan of Dark mode in the phone, so was quite happy with the system wide Dark mode in 10. Icing on the cake was, whatsapp released Dark mode today. So, almost all my apps run in Dark mode now.

As far as other features of 10,
Gesture Navigation did not work in my mobile.
2-button Navigation is good. Location setting for each app was already existing in previous revision, but 10 takes it to next level. We have one more option called ‘Allow only while using the app’, which may be really useful if it works as intended.
Have got new status bar setting called “Sensors ON/OFF”. Did not quite understand it’s usage for a normal user though.
Ah, now one more font for Headline/Body available.
And also, different icon shapes are available.

How does that work? Do we need to subscribe for it?

Service providers now allow voice calls to switch to WiFi when available, on compatible phones.

Here's Airtel explaining it, for example. Works well in my home, where cell reception is atrocious otherwise.

Considering service providers use the internet connection for phone calls, aren't they over charging, in a way, since they are using up the data plan of another network instead of their own mobile network?

Go to settings > search for wifi calling > enable
(edit, just as Chetan said)

It will use the wifi of your wired broadband connection to route calls, very useful if call quality is poor. Works beautifully for me.

In 2003 I had perfect call quality and 124kbps black & white streaming media on Reliance CDMA. 16 years later with VoLTE and what not, I can use the phone for everything but calling. And have to buy a new phone because I have to rely on VoWiFi to make calls. Such is life.

Oh, no question it's ridiculous, but the alternative for a lot of us is zero usable cellphone connectivity in the middle of the urban jungle.

And that exactly is my dilemma. I know it is a budget phone and misses so many latest features. But Samsung's OS update cycle of only two major updates is frustrating. For eg, Note 8 was released just before Oreo launched. After launch, it got the Oreo update straightway and then one year down the line it got android 9. And Samsung being Samsung, did not update it to Android 9. So people who paid 60k for a Note 8 in 2017 got effectively one year of update and the phone was outdated by the time Android 10 got launched in late 2019.

Note 10, in my opinion, will face the same fate. It got android 10 a month after launch. Samsung will update it to 11 next year and stop it there. I think at this point, the hardware is almost matured. There is no significant change in performance between that outdated Exynos and state of art Snapdragon if you are not into gaming. But android versions are a significant step up for a normal user. My fascination for Note series is because of its SPen. Since Note 10 lite gives all the SPen functionalities, I am confused now.

This is one of the times when I wish this section had the thanks button. Learnt something new, but checked in my OnePlus 6 and I dont think this phone has this feature.

Completely agree with you on the hardware. Yes, the 9810 is a 2 year old chip but that doesn't mean it's a bad chip. Only gamers, heavy multitaskers might will notice a difference here. The Note 10 lite makes sense only if you want the S-Pen, otherwise look at OnePlus or the S10 Lite launching later today.

I'm coming back to Samsung after a very long time as I hated Touchwiz and I've been reading very good things about the new One UI. On updates, don't you think the new features in every android iteration is also very slightly incremental, now that android itself has reached pretty good maturity ? I've realised I don't care much about android version updates now as I did earlier.

I've no regrets on pre-booking the Note 10 Lite as @28k (exchange with a 1+ 5T) it is a great deal, especially for the S-Pen experience. Can't wait !!

Which network are you on? OnePlus 6 does support WiFi calling.

You don't see the below options in Settings > WiFi & Internet > SIM & Network?

My wife's Oneplus 6T didn't have the feature until we updated to Android 10. After the update i can see the wifi calling feature and have enabled it. The SIM is Airtel.

According to Airtel website Oneplus 6 is also supported.

Can you please recheck. Update the software if any update is available.

To people moving out of the OnePlus platform, is there a concern of updates from other manufacturers? My wife's 3T is still getting software fixes and security updates and so does my OP5.
I was seriously considering moving out as Android auto had stopped working on my OP5 for the past 8-10 months. However on my current trip, I have been able to reset a lot of developer options and other settings that I had fiddled with in the past to tweak performance. This has got AA to work again on my phone and I have now tested it on two rental cars and all is fine.
From my limited knowledge I understand Samsung assures updates upto two years into the life of a model? Is that not a deterrent?
