Re: Call recording feature in USA on a India bought mobile device?

Is there a India bought mobile brand/device which allows call recording feature in USA like Samsung does?

I had bought OP Nord 4 in the hope of having call recording feature, but it works only in India, and as I landed in USA, it disabled the feature. But my old Samsung A52 still records all the calls, immaculately.

Please suggest!

I bought the Google Pixel 8a from the official Google India online store. The price was already lower than Croma's, and I got a credit card discount on top of it. The smaller size and lower weight compared to the Nord and Nothing were also major deciding factors.

Re: Android Thread: Phones / Apps / Mods

Android 16 update is now available on Google Pixel 6 onward. Although some key features like desktop mode and UI overhaul are reserved for the QPR2 release.

Re: Android Thread: Phones / Apps / Mods

Hello all, I am thinking of moving back to Android from iPhones. How's the longevity of flagships Androids now? Say S25 Ultra series?

I haven't used Androids in a while; my last phone was a S21/S20 or something with the non Snapdragon chip. I remember it getting slow after a year or two and that's when I changed to iPhones. But I am bored of them now, it also doesn’t make sense in my head to spend above a lakh on a phone. But the longevity and resale value of The iPhones are still attractive?

Have Android flagships considerably improved in terms of their longevity? I am getting a good deal for around 75k for the Ultra from dubai. While the Pro Max is around a lakh and change.

Recently a friend bought Pro Max from India only instead of Dubai. He got it from the grey market. Saved even more than buying from Dubai.

Any good flagship should work well for 3-4 years at least. A top of the line S25 Ultra should be good for at least 5 years, except for the battery but then that is true for iPhones too.

I suggest you stick to Samsung's S25 series for a more reliable experience.

Seems, ONLY samsung devices have native call recording feature which works in USA. The money spent on OP N4 has gone down the drain.

Are there any samsung devices which has snapdragon chipset for around 30K to replace my aging A52.

The newly launched A36 would be available around this price.
But it would be a slight downgrade from A5x series phone that you currently own.

I also dislike Flipkart and have used it in the past 5 years only to purchase nothing and moto phones. While ordering on Flipkart, use a credit card from a reputed issuer like Amex, HDFC etc. If the item is extremely delayed or undelivered, raise a charge back request with your card issuer. They will refund your amount. The delivery will be open box. Share the OTP only after proper inspection of the phone and all accessories. If you find any issue, return the item and don’t provide otp. In this case also, you can raise the charge back request. If the phone develops an unlikely fault in the coming days, approach moto support directly and not Flipkart. This way, you’ll have your peace of mind and will never have to reach out to Flipkart support even if anything goes wrong from their end.

I am a dual phone user as I like a lot of both the platforms. Being with the iPhone, you may get frustrated with not getting day one software updates unless you are on a Pixel. With Samsung, your first update would be timely, but as your phone ages, it falls out of their radar and you may have to wait up to an year for the update to come. If you want to keep the phone for a long time and want to avoid frustration, Pixel is your only choice.

The only Samsung phone I ever owned slowed down to a crawl in a couple of years. Contrast that with my ~4 year old Motorola Edge 20, a mid range phone, which is even today perfectly usable - and I would attribute it to the bloat free Android it comes with.

Still I advise people to get an iPhone if they plan to keep it for a long time. And even if they don't, they get a better value in the used market if they end up upgrading soon. So unless you are sure that you'd be keeping the phone for a long time, I'd advice you to not buy an expensive Android. Get something like the OnePlus 13R.

May I know which was the Samsung device you used and when was this? I had a similar experience with the S21 Exynos, but what I have been told is that this doesn’t happen with Samsung Ultras which have Snapdragon chipsets.

The one reason I am inclined towards Samsung is the cost of their spares. These days I change phones only because of their batteries and iPhone battery costs are pretty steep to the point that it makes sense to just get a new phone.

But Samsung batteries are usually a few thousands, which would then enable me to use the phone for a few more years as per my calculation. That is, if it doesn’t slow down.

Are you sure the battery for your particular Samsung model would still be available when the time comes for a new one?

I had to retire my previous Samsung phone (still working fine) only because a replacement battery was no longer available when I needed it.

Fair question, I honestly do not know. I have battery issues usually at the 2 to 3 year mark, at which point the batteries have usually been available. But I don’t know the case afterwards.

Re: Android Thread: Phones / Apps / Mods

Apologies mods , just realised this thread is better suited for Android related info hence cross posting from mobile phone thread.

Important info for google Pixel 6A User.

Google have issued a battery recall for specific Pixel 6a users. I received a mail to same effect. You can check at below link if you device is eligible or not for recall.

Determine if your device qualifies for the Pixel 6a Battery Performance Program1

Assuming you are eligible for recall like me, google is offering -
A) Battery replacement
B) 100 USD credit directly to your account
C) 150 USD google india store credits for phone upgrade.

Public Google Notice

Pixel 6a Battery Performance Program

Edit- Unless you wish to change your phones, don't go for option C like i did. Now i am stuck with a 150 USD voucher which i must use by 21 july, 2026 and is eligible for phone purchase only on google india store. Voucher value in INR is ₹12,950.
