Without the silicon gel caseon the phone. phone works fine.

Has anyone noticed anything such yet? any suggestions?

I found a link with people facing exactly the same issue as me.

Maybe the silicone case material is covering the mic? In my SGS it's a small tiny hole at the bottom portion of the phone. Should be something similar for S2

Which of the smartphones has the best GPS locking. I have been reading reviews that GPS in Galaxy is not great and takes a longtime to lock. Sensation is better than S2 in this regards. How are the other alternatives.

Regards

Help me guys !!

My wifey's Samsung Galaxy Ace suddenly decided to show only on Dialer and Application icons at the bottom of the home screen; Messaging and Contacts icons have disappeared.

I have rebooted the device several times; even removed and reinstalled the battery but to no avail.

Does anyone have any idea as to what could be the cause?

You must have swiped the dockbar. Which launcher do you use? Is it showing '+' symbol on all four icons? Try swiping t-3 times to the left or right and it shall reveal your original four icons.

That's a first I've heard! Why should a silicon TPU case cause echo? If and only if it covers the mic.

Does the SGS2 have a second mic for noise cancellation? (It will be a small pin-hole somewhere, perhaps at the top of the phone (like the iphone4).

Its possible the case is covering that mic, if it exists.

Also - does the case leave enough space around the main mic?

Hello,
I have been using the Garmin Asus A10 with Android 2.1 here in India. The phone attracted due to the fact that we were getting Garmin Maps and Navigation. Now with Garmin and Asus parting ways, we users are stuck with Android 2.1. When Asus was contacted they specified Garmin does not support on Android 2.2 and higher. With Asus not helping, is there a possibility that I flash my ROM with after market OS like CM, leedroid etc.
Hardware Specs as below.
CPU: Qualcomm 7227 600MHz Memory: 512MB SDRAM+512MB SLC + 4G eMMC Flash
Detailed specs on Garmin Asus website A10 - Specifications ~ Garmin-Asus

Thanks Deepak

Re posting the query again. Someone please suggest.

Guys
I have a doubt about letsbuy. I was going through the letsbuy website and came across a Dell Mobile Phone which is NOT listed anywhere on the Dell India Site.

Could letsbuy be selling 'imported' stuff?

please refer to the below links.

Checked the silicon case once again. it has a hole opening for both the noice cancellation mic on the top as well as for the voice mic at the botton of the phone.

Anyone else using the S2, plz chk if you are experiencing the same. caller on the other end will hear an echo of his voice. if its working fine, then i sure would like to know the brand of case your using.

My N1 picksup a lock in matter of seconds after a cold boot. If you want to improve the AGPS lock, install an app called 'Faster Fix' and select India as your location and see the magic.

Well SGS2 is faster but not cheaper! It is retailing for 31k while Arc is around 27k.

I had a feel of the Arc at Sonyworld and found build quality to be sub-par. I found X10 much better (both in looks as well as build quality). Arc felt so flimsy in hte hand!

Are you serious? i think a friend of mine picked it up for around 30 ~ 32 about a month ago...

That is crazy - couldn't you downgrade or flash a new ROM? There are way too many for the milestone. I think motorola's always made lovely hardware - but never good software - starting from the ugly UI with the L7i and suchlike.

Well I was really pissed off by their attitude...
took them 8 months to release froyo for the Milestone & it had a really buggy Kernel... that's when i switched over the CM7, i couldn't change the Kernel as it was digitally signed...
didn't feel like downgrading...

Decided to take Motorola's advice and switch to a phone that comes with an Unlocked bootloader..

My SGS2 locks GPS much much faster than my old Motorola Milestone...
Coupled with it's bigger screen & faster Processor, navigating is easier...

Letsbuy does not sell "imported stuff" per se but does specialise in clearing off non moving/unsold inventories for many MNC's/brands as a one time event. It has sold off items like camera, printers in the past for some brands.Dell Aero phone may be inventory clearance by Dell as it can't be sold anywhere else in the world. But Stupid Pricing.. Rs 11,999 for Dell's first android with 2.1, lesser specs and at the same site, it is selling Dell XCD35 for Rs 10,399. Logic is the first casualty with most of the MNC's..

i upgraded my Dell XCD35 to CM7 android 2.3.4 green V5.

Now i feel its just wow. the speeds improved a lot in every application.

i also installed set cpu and overclocked to a safe figure of 691mhz.

eveything works fine. battery life has increased a lot after using battery calibration.

the only problem is that my application mobile maps 10 has stopped working. i reinstalled but still it doesnt work. i get a message to force stop.

any idea why its not running at all even after fresh installation? or is it that the software is not meant for my version?

Guys this is my first post here, I am planning to buy a good Android phone, but I am confused between models any suggestions will help a lot. My initial choices are Samsung Galaxy S2, LG Optimus 2X, Sony Ericsson Xperia X10,& HTC Desire HD. Any additions to the current list is also welcome. My budget is between 20 to 30k.

Out of the list mentioned by you, Galaxy S2 is the best; followed by HTC Sensation (not in your list)
