With BrutMaps and GPRS disabled, calculating driving directions does not work. Also Navigation does not work. I guess this may be as expected. Of course, I can track my location against the offline Google Maps and see if I am going in the right direction.
one answer I am looking for since many days and many posts,
was anyone able to upgrade Galaxy 3 to Android 2.2 ?
if not will this handset ever support 2.2 ?

Still there is no 2.2 ROM for Galaxy3. However, it is supposed to be upgradable to 2.2.
Regards,
Might sound stupid, still here goes.
Is it worth paying 1.5 times more to get Galaxy S over Galaxy 3 ?

To put it simply, YES!! Actually there's no comparison! Its like comparing a nano with an S class!lol:
@yzfrj, I agree with JayD, its definitely worth the difference in price for Galaxy S. S is one of the best phones I have used and certainly the best Android available in India presently. Its packed with cutting-edge technology and features, 3 only shares the software platform.

AMOLED, 5 MP camera with 720p, faster processor.
The main thing is its a bit more future proof.
Anyway you know that sinking feeling when the price falls and every tom, senthil and chandi buys one.
Still thinking...
Thanks guys.
Lawsuit against Google for Android,
what do you guys feel about this ?
I think it can be result of rapid android growth which changed the mobile platform for advanced users in such a small amount of time.
Have anyone tried HTC WILDFIRE ?? It has android 2.1 with all the features that a smart phone needs. What is your say guys ?

Compared to Galaxy3, HTC wildfire is 4k more costlier. It has screen resolution 20% lesser than Galaxy3 and speed of processor is 150Mhz slower than Galaxy3. Both has 2.1, Galaxy3 is upgradable to 2.2, not sure about HTC wildfire.

Its not just this. Microsoft is suing Motorola and has already made HTC pay licence fees for using Android.
Google is not protecting the equipment vendors on other aspects. Vendors might not be that enthusiastic supporting Android if they have be bear the wrath of established players in the industry.
guys what do you think about this one

My 2 cents, I was seriously considering this phone, but then have been reading a lot of reviews online about how bad its battery life is. Esp in the russian mobile review sites. They were people who were charinging it twice a day to meet their above avg mobile use + some browsing, which they claim their earlier nokias & SEs managed without a hitch.
So plz ask around, check with Wildfire owners before buying that.
Ps: The screen is a tad bit smaller, so lot of andriod apps are not compatible.
