Guys does it make sense to buy a samsung galaxy s2 when 3D phones are just around the corner?

I can easily wait for a month or two.

Do you click loads of pictures on your phone with geo tagging turned ON? Do you download tons of images that are geo tagged?

If yes, may be that's the reason why the gallery consumes a majorpart of your bandwidth. Period.

My Defy showed a very high amount of data usage with a jump of about 4 to 5 GB over two or three days.

However, in the 'show usage by activity' it shows 90% of it for 'Gallery'. Now what would it be doing by using Gallery for data usage? I have disabled everything in Data Delivery and it still shows 57 MB of usage for today. All I have done is to use Gallery.

Can anyone please help explain this?

lets see.
In your gallery, you have various tiles(or something similar) for various folders?
If so, scroll right(or down.whichver it is that applies).
do you see albums from , say, your facebook etc accounts?

If youre using any social n/w's andro app, the gallery will sync the albums.

Joe,

you need a complicated 5 point unlock pattern. no software required really. worst case, delete the phone application from the launcher ure using.

on a side note, the cases on fommy are misleading. The one i ordered for my defy was like too wide (almost 1.5-2cm!)

@akshay - qHD is there in some HTC phones. PM dkaile. and specs evolve every couple of months - in 6-8 months, uget the next generation

Did you try FDM(fixed dialling mode) in your phone? It can restrict call to only some specific numbers you define or may be change to flight mode :D. I know you will be not reachable for some time. I would be a bit scared to put an app to restrict calls as the app will need almost full access to my phone, which can be misused by the wrong guys. (yes, I am a bit paranoid about security).
There is this app too for android
https://market.android.com/details?i...=search_result. They give you free full activation if you give them a five star rating :D

Even I'm concerned on the security stuff. I would try out the Fixed dial mode and if it is not to my liking, then I have made up my mind to develop an app that will just do what I need. Thanks for the suggestions.

come oct, even qHD will be passé. both sammy and htc are coming out with 720p screens. even the upcoming i[hone5 might sport 720p.

my sensation will still remain qHD :(

Galaxy S2 CDMA launching on Sprint this week. They have increased the screen size for the CDMA counterpart to 4.52" screen (from the 4.3" here) at 129gm (up from 116gm here)

My next buy!!

Had a look at the new Sony Ericsson XPERIA Mini Pro and it looks much better than the older XPERIA Mini Pro. The screen size is considerably bigger. I hope we get many more models on such a size from other manufacturers as well. I find such models to be more comfortable in my pocket and I'm not a fan of those big brick sized models.

HTC Salsa is available for 14.5k now on Flipkart. Sounds good, compared to the features offered.
Unfortunately, there is this tacky Facebook button on it, which is stopping me from going for it.

The life cycle of most phones is around 6 months to a year nowadays. You'll always get a newer feature or newer hardware available after you pick up the 3D phone. If you require a phone, pick it up now. The GalaxyS2 is a good phone and should be able to meet all your requirements for a minimum of a year.
For the past few years I changed my phone every year mainly cos of the need for better hardware or better options.

Just flashed First UA ROM on my phone. This is undoubtedly one of the latest and IMHO the best custom ROMs for Galaxy Ace that is out there. The screenshots speak for themselves. I have not seen such high Quadrant scores ever on my phone. The ROM is quite fast (as it installs without any bloatware) and also introduces the much needed ClockWorkMod for Ace. Here are the features included in this ROM:
