The biggest question I have is I want to use the Smartphone to store all music and connect it to my car stereo.

Currently I use a 4 GB Ipod Nano and want the smartphone to replace the ipod Nano.

Is it possible to connect the Android phones directly using USB and are there any concepts of play list in Android smart phones.

This will be the deciding factor whether the phone is an Android one or an iphone 4

Please help

Cheers
You can connect your andro device via USB.
Mine does get detected as a external storage as well.

Playlist is possible. You can use any of hundreds of players on the market.

If you have aux in, you can buy a male-male 3.5mm chord, plug it in.

Had the same issue with an O2 phone, which was not network locked either.

-Please check for APN's already on the phone, Try editing one of them with airtel access points and save. Should work. Also check if data usage box is checked.

Hi all, my wife is using the sony ericsson X8 and wanted to know how do I move the apps from phone memory to Memory card. Is there a way to move already installed apps into the memory card so that I can free Phone memory space.

Re: Android Thread: Phones / Apps / Mods

I have been using my S2 for some time. I see that the battery is draining when i keep the device idle overnight. Has anybody else experienced this?

I found many battery monitors on the android market. Has anyone tried any app? Any really good ones that can monitor the running apps and apps needing access to network?

I use "2x battery".
doesnt give any detailed usage info, but allows you to save usage cos of 3g/wifi, by turning off when in standby.
Within standby also, it allows back ground data usage, and turns it off after the email/facebook background update is finished.

Seems to suit your requirements.
Try it for a day.

Plus it gives you a nice circular percent battery indicator.
In figures, i recall from initial days that life remaining went from 5 hours with 65% battery to 7 hours with 65%.

@invisible

The Litening 6.1 with rangemode kernal is giving amazing battery life. I almost got two full days of battery life after complete discharge and re-charge.

Hyperion batteries which i got in amazon is not lasting as much as the samsung does. Though the hyperion ones are 1800mah.

Samsung lasts close to two days these days.

Any other Kernal you are testing that is giving better performance.

2 days is usage is wonderful with single charge. Best I have managed is 1 and half day.
Currently I am testing Revolution Rom with Ninphetamine 2.1.3 and will test the other kernal on it too. Best result I got on Litening 6.1 with Jeffery Speedfrey and Ninphetamine 2.1.2 kernal

You could also try Ragemod T30. Ninphetamine 2.1.2 & 2.1.3 gave equal battery result. I found Ninphetamine 2.1.2 much smoother.
The new Speedmod T39 has brightness setting altered when using auto brightness feature, could make slight improvement haven't tested though.

What are you UV setting ?

@naveenvenkatesh : Install 'Betterbatterystats' app from the market this will keep check on whats keeping the device awake and help you rectify it. App is very accurate.

Before jumping and installing an app, what i would recommend is try to take simple steps first and if the results are satisfactory then there is no need to install another app.
  • Switch off the Active Screen
  • Turn off WiFi and Bluetooth when you don't need them
  • Turn off Key press vibration and sound
  • Check in the task manager who is consuming maximum battery and if you see some suspect applications either turn them off, or uninstall them.

Will add more if anything else comes to my mind. Mine lasts 2 days and my friends S2 also lasts 2 days without charge (Offcourse this is when we are not doing any heavy music listening or browsing)

Re: Android Thread: Phones / Apps / Mods

I had some queries for my S2
a: Fast Battery drain (I will use mayankjha1806 recommendation and check)
b: Shows internal memory as just 11.50 GB as against 16 GB.

Last edited by 11mahesh11 : 7th September 2011 at 08:34. Reason: pressed return key by mistake.

Re: Android Thread: Phones / Apps / Mods

c: Do i need to charge my S2 for 10 hrs, for the first 3 to 4 charge cycle, as it was told by my reseller, who seems to have good knowledge about samsung mobiles.
Normally my S2 is fully charged within 3-1/2 hrs.
Can i afford to keep overcharging for 10 hrs.
