Thanks man. How do you rate the performance of Games ? I am not much into gaming, but its a good benchmark for real world performance.
How do you rate the downrated camera (5mp in an 8mp world) as far as cell phone cameras go ? And how is the video ?
The arrival of Nokia Lumia 800/710 has further complicated what was supposed to be a simple decision for me.

but seriously - i needed help only in wild hills, not time to eat. its manageable - atleast between me and the wife !

but seriously, i LOVe it so much, i just might buy the full version. Good work by the developers!

Re: Android Thread: Phones / Apps / Mods

Hello friends,

My sis just bought a SE xperia ray.

The positives about the phone are
1. Smooth touch display
2. Sleek
3. Light weight
4. Good camera (30fps 720p recording)
5. Interface is beautiful to look at (Said beautiful n not functional)

Negatives
1. You need to tap the screen and keep it pressed to take picture. Very difficuly to pics of kiddie as she always running around. She will not stop till the camera senses that we are pressing the screen to take picture
2. Not able to delete contacts from sim all at once.
3. Is not connecting to android market thru wifi. though we can browsw thru wifi
4. Interface is not easy as a nokia.
5. Not easy to control as a nokia. Has a mind of its own. Wont do as u directed.
6. apps are too big to download. 39 mb for nfs, 14 mb for angry bird etc.

Please note am not a nokia fan but i had a direct comparison of xperia ray and nokia 700 (new fone with 1 ghz processor, belle os same 8 mp camera, same video recording priced at rs 17300 a good rs 1500 cheaper than xperia ray). Nokia doen not have the glitzy interface of xperia. but in every other way it beats the hell out of ray. classy n smooth.
Was an android fan. But after using android for over an year, felt that nokia is better in every single way except interface.
Was able to do whatever i want the way i want in an nokia. not so easy with android.
Also being symbian it requires lesser processor speeds and capacity leading to improved battery life.
If you want a no nonsense fone its gonna be nokia 700.

Does anybody know how to connect to droid market thru wifi the first time? Help me.

Re: Android Thread: Phones / Apps / Mods

Here it is friends, the 1st Samsung Galaxy S2 on CDMA in India imported from the US and being used here on Reliance CDMA network with EVDO (3G).

It's different from the GSM version that most of you are running in some minor features like it has a 4.52” display (versus 4.3”), a larger battery (1800 mAh vs. 1650 mAh) and weighs a bit more (130g vs. 116g). It also has a 4G “WiMax” radio, if and when that see's light in India. Anyway's I am not going to keep it that long...

A few snaps for you to enjoy a new technology -

The S2 (CDMA) Front

Quite similar to the GSM version except the size (not my original photo but from ubergizmo)

The S2 Back. Notice the difference in Camera Shape and that the Flash is below the lens unlike the GSM one, on which it is on the side. Also note the speaker placement is on the left corner instead of the right placement on the GSM version

S2 in hand. Doesn't feel much bigger than the 4~4.3" screens I have used

Compared with my HTC EVO3D. Notice the higher screen resolution of the HTC EVO 3D.

Incidently the brand new condition CDMA EVO3D is up for grabs if anyone's interested.

The battery is more powerful at 1800maH

The price, if anyone's interested, is about 8K below the GSM version.

Gaming is really smooth on this phone. Muffin knight does not lagg at all, No issues with Contract killer and the ever so good angry birds.
What makes it lagg at times is when you overpopulate the screen with widgets.

Camera , during the day time is excellent, very similar to the one on my old phone(samsung wave (s8500)) but night time the pictures tend to become grainy. The flash is pretty powerful.

baseband refers to the firmware that your radio hardware uses. mobile radios, wifi, BT GPS etc are driven by this. yes in some cases you might need to flash a new baseband version with a new ROM. Our defy expert phamilyman will answer shortly

Re: Android Thread: Phones / Apps / Mods

Question:

Which are Android phones with better voice quality. (Features can be compromised)

I keep hearing that Samsung phones, though having good features, lack in voice quality.
Is that what is felt by others or its specific few phones only.

(Taking out the coverage and signal strength aspect of the service provider)/

I dont think the BB is your problem, else nothing would have worked, not just mobile data.
does the mobile not turn on at all, or are the old settings not connecting anymore?

Re: Android Thread: Phones / Apps / Mods

Friends, urgently need some advice on new android phone I need to buy for my bro. Here are the requirements -

1. Budget around 8k
2. Decent screen size - at least 3.3 inches
3. Good camera - at least 3mp with autofocus
3. Good music capabilities
4. Decent battery backup - at least a day with 15-30 minutes calls, 1 hour music, half n hour gaming etc.

I am leaning towards Dell XCD35 as it is available for less than 7k on letsbuy (with coupon). But I have read bad reviews about its battery. Is it that bad? If yes, what are the other alternatives that match above mentioned requirements?
