For Defy/+ users:
Updated to Quarx 18th build of 4.1.2
Here ia my observations so far:
UI is more smooth, phone seems stable so far.
Battery is also sam as earlier builds if not better. Last night it consumed 12% of charge, with data off.
However thinknthe network connectivity is poorer than earlier builds. It just keeps on disappearing randomly some times.

BTW, I was on Sept nightly so, only cleared cache/ dalvik, installed zip from sd card ( it automatically set the 2nd-boot as default boot), then again cleared cache/ dalvik, booted normally, it optmized the apps & all done.

First impression on body quality - plastic is super thin! Nowhere near the quality of my HTC Desire! When I opened the back panel for inserting battery, it felt like it is going to break into pieces if I apply some more pressure.

EDIT: Warranty card indicates that this is imported from Africa. That too a white one!
Congrats! Back panel sure is flimsy, am scared to open it actually!

Are you experiencing a slow wifi on nexus? My home computer and desire shows blazing speeds but the nexus takes longer time to load pages on chrome. I I am on 4.1.1 now. I couldn't even run the speed test application as it never starts to ping.

EDIT: I forced Nexus to use the 2.x GHz frequency band and the issue seems to be resolved. However, there are people complaining about this on several forums.

EDIT2: The browser (stock and Chrome) takes a bit longer to start to load any page. This is frustrating. May be a DNS issue, as I use Google DNS on PC and Desire, not on Nexus. Trying to find the screen where I can configure Nexus to use Google DNS.

Re: Android Thread: Phones / Apps / Mods

Friends, I am looking for an Android phone within 10k. After comparing many handsets, found Karbonn A21 looks better in the specs (for me). Will it be a good buy? any one has a good review?

Few of my friends are using Karbonn A7 mobiles and they are very happy with the performance.

I assume you don't have India listed in the country list for baseband.

In the baseband settings under Defy Parts, I have settled with South East Asia -> 3.4.3-361. Please try that and let me know if that solves the problem.

Are you on 4.1.2? I am still waiting for the ota.

Face unlock is really a usable feature contrary to my belief. It just gets unlocked so quickly.

I am getting the mugen power 2000mah replacement battery for galaxy nexus when a friend returns from us next week.

Yes, upgraded a few days back. Had to upgrade manually to 4.1.1, then received the OTA.

Face unlock, well yes, even I was surprised. Its pretty accurate too, haven't tried to fool it till now though!

4.1.2 is available for takju & yakju builds, i got the OTA 3 days back. if you are on any of these builds goto settings->apps->all->GoogleServiceframework
clear data + force close, then check for update you must get it.

Problem with face unlock is it can be fooled very easily, try it out with different faces/pictures.

Even i was planning to get the expansys 2000 mah OEM nexus battery, too bad its not available on any of the ebay india sites. The original price is like 35$ and they are asking for 20+ $ for shipping.

I also have South East Asia listed under Base band selection. I tried with 3.4.3-361 but it was worst than 3.4.3-331.
So currently I am using -331 & Network is not that good @ home as previous builds.(I mean I get 2-3 or sometime no signal bars at places where I used to get 4-5 bars). Can be my operator issue as well, but when I commented my previous post, I was @ home. Outside, both the voice & data networks are fine.

BTW, Here is my battery stats since the ROM installation. There seems to be no issue with the deep sleep (red arrows) against many complaints on XDA. It does goes under deep sleep even in voice network. No need to activate Airplane mode.
