Given that its a new phone, doing a factory-reset might be easiest way out. That should clear SMS settings and phone would get settings from SIM on restart.

Sorry to hear about the baseband not working well for you.

Defy users: There is a new 4.1.2 build out with some more fixes.

Maybe, offroad maniac should give it a go first.

Solve this query for me!

1. I have an office laptop that detects my mobile and its contents however I can not play any of the audio/video files present on the phone (office policies)
2. I can move/update/delete the files on the phone and transfer between the laptop and the mobile, but that's all I can do with it.
3. Simply on a trial basis, without any need, say if I have some audio/video files on my laptop (or on a usb connected to the laptop), is there any software that I can install on my mobile that allows me to access these files when the mobile is connected to the laptop via the usb cord.
4. The same can be done via WLAN, which is not available at office, which brings back to the query as above.

I repeat, there is no actual underlying need for this query - simply one day I started doing TP on this aspect, however I couldn't find any solution. Please do give your suggestions
Err, any headsup on this query of mine? I didn't get even one of you fellas curious on this?

Re: Android Thread: Phones / Apps / Mods

A big THANK YOU for all those who helped me get GPS'ed with my Moto Defy +!!
What I did:
-Activated 1GB/month GPRS pack
-Opened 'Navigation' from the menu
-Typed in some destination
-Defy took some 15-20 sec to lock onto the satellite first time up
-Voila!! I was off!!

Google Maps and Navigation worked well when it came to giving me turn by turn directions, but messed up with a one-way. But as soon as I took the right deviation, the lady re-routed me pretty fast.

And look what I found with my new pal (GPS) on day 1!

Balamathi Hills, 11 km from Vellore town ~ 20 min drive. Next to nil traffic up the winding roads. Pure stress buster!

Looks like a secret hill that no weekend-coffee-day-posing bikers have yet discovered!

Small but nice twisties....

Let me try.
Since it allows you to move files between the lappy and phone, why not move the file and then play it normally on your phone? No need of additional softwares.

Ampere Jee - There is no hotel and the hill is too small to be noticed by most folks. Long Long Ago, I went up there in my motorcycle (college days) and couldn't even find a tea shop. Apparently things haven't changed much save for the improvement in the road. Elagiri is a better option for the Madrasis. Bengalore has plenty of day trip options while Madras has none.

Just started using Nova Prime. Need to customize more, but this is what it looks like right now -
The clock is Bob Clock D3 and the weather is UCCW. The icon pack is MetroStation.

I installed Jetpack on Dolphin browser and the HTML5 compatibility shooted up from 293 to 492! The browser is super smooth now. It was so slow on my old HTC Desire

Kies is already upgraded to latest version. Weird part is that Current Firmware version is shown as Blank. Planning to show it to Service center to see if they could upgrade the same for me.

Yes that happened with me too the first time. With Kies on, first connect the phone and then again after 5 min disconnect it. Then reconnect it and leave connected for 5 min. It should show the upgrade notification then. In case it still doesn't work you can download the file from sammobile.com and upgrade via Odin. I did this on my Tab 7.7 and it is a smooth and quick process.

Re: Android Thread: Phones / Apps / Mods

Waiting for 4.2 now, let's see what it'll bring to the table.

Google will also be showing off the first devices to run on Android 4.2, including a high-end tablet, the Nexus 10, from Samsung Electronics, and LG Electronics's first Nexus phone, the Nexus 4, CNET has confirmed

Hehehe.. bhai, mine defy is regular use piece & i dont have any standby phone atm.

I think that build only has some minor kernel fixes, specially for issues faced majorly by green lens users.
As I am not facing any such issues, i am not going to flash that. May be a new nightly with some definite improvements over current build.

Re: Android Thread: Phones / Apps / Mods

As already mentioned Sony has refused a Jellybeans update for the Ray and all 2011 Xperias. The ICS update by Sony is clearly half baked and full of bugs and suffers from poor performance. I'm sure many here who have upgraded have experienced this.

Dudes, present and future users of Sony mobiles, pleae let Sony know what you think of shoddy, half baked support by signing this petition. 2012 Xperia owners, please consider that your phones may also be given the same treatment when the 2013 Xperias come around.

http://www.gopetition.com/petitions/...ature-map.html

And it takes no genius to know that Sony is denying JB upgrade due to business and marketing considerations, and not due to hardware limitations, as JB runs very smoothly on lower specced hardware, than most 2011 Xperias. They are clearly lying when they are implying otherwise.

Thanks a lot. Looks good and seems lightweight...
