Yup, thanks.

Ive seen a load of these android tv/pc things on there retailing for about 60-100 usd. You get your mini keyboard+mousepad integrated in 100 bucks.
Worth a checkout.
Although, one thing is to mentioned, that if your order's above 60-80 usd, and the package is slightly large, the customs clearance can make the delivery period about a month to 6 weeks.
If you can live with that.
And gaffar and ebay are retailing the same units, albeit at about 1.5-2 times the dx price.

Thanks.

The player +keyboard is working out at $84 which is awesome.

Has anyone here used dx? How is it? Reliable? Do they ship to India?

Go to www.sammobile.com/firmwares, select your phone model and you'll see the stock roms available. Download it and flash using PC Odin.

But you'll lose root with this method.

Re: Android Thread: Phones / Apps / Mods

So finally my Galaxy Nexus joined the 4.2 club. Also migrated from yakjuxw to yakju build where I can get OTAs from now on.

Replaced stock kernel with franco's r342 nightly for 4.2.x versions of GNex.

Android Thread: Phones / Apps / Mods-screenshot_20121208224317.jpg

Phone is better responsive, fast and no issues seen till now. I like it better than how 4.2.1 runs on the Nexus 7 tablet. The two finger pull down of settings is a welcome addition.

I could also configure mail with Exchange settings for the first time. It never worked on 4.1.x versions. Now I get real time notifications of office e-mail too!

BTW, I flashed everything manually, including boot-loader, radio, boot, recovery, system and userdata. During the process, all sdcard contents disappeared. But since I back up everything in dropbox, no worries at all - sdcard has been restored to its previous state

Antutu benchmark on 4.1.1 - 8400
Antutu benchmark on 4.2.1 - 8600
(With CPU OC'ed to 1.4GHz)

I see significant improvement over smoothness - especially in Google Maps zoom and panning which has now become smooth as butter. Not sure whether it is the new franco kernel or 4.2

Re: Android Thread: Phones / Apps / Mods

guys I have a month old Xperia tipo.
it has some irritating bugs.
the earphone jack works only if I switch on the phone with the earphones plugged in. the loudspeaker, mic, earpiece don't work in this case.
if I switch on the phone without the earphones plugged in then everything else except the earphone jack works.
also the music and gallery apps crash once in a while.
will I be able to get rid of these bugs by rooting the phone or installing something like cyanogenmod? I already did a factory reset.
thanks.

I am using it for long. Yes, they ship to India and its free too. Shipping delay depends mainly on the customs clearance. And their customer support is great also.

I just stumbled upon the google voice typing feature in android 4 I am stunned that the pain of the typing on the android keyboard is history. It is hard to believe that I just spoke with out in a flow and realised that almost every thing that I had spoken about has been transcribed correctly it was only a couple words that I had to correct and everything else was transcribed correctly friends go ahead and try this out. This message has been typed using google voice typing.

Yes, the voice dictation on Android is pretty great. Over 90% accuracy

Has anyone here rooted their Xperia Tipo or unlocked the boot loader?
I'm planning to do that soon to get rid of some bugs by installing a different ROM, mostly freeXperia fxp150 which is a jelly bean Rom.
I just don't know how to backup the stock Rom so that I can flash it if something goes wrong.

You dont need to backup your stock.
Thats what PC companion will restore when you use "repair".
Do remember that root can be removed, but unlocked bootloader, not so much.
And sony's taken a new route that when you unlock your bootloader with flashtool, youll have to put that through sony's website, and kaput warranty.

Locking an un-locked bootloader is as easy as unlocking. Now if the service center will honor the warranty or not, is all upto the service person who is checking the phone.

To quote my experience, the screen on my Neo V went kaput one day. I was running a custom ROM with unlocked bootloader. So I unrooted the phone and locked the bootloader again and took the phone to Sony's service center. Their software didn't show anything about rooting or bootloader and they replaced the screen under warranty without any questions. Only thing they checked for was physical or water damage to the phone.

Your mileage may vary.

Hmmm.
So did you use flashtool?
I was going to unlock my ion, and I got directed to sonys website, telling me about warranty.
No such thing happened with my x10 .

Not much available for the ion so far, so I decided to hold for now.
