Nothing. I assumed you wanted to take maps with you to locations which dont have data service. Keep your data on.

Nothing will happen, as long as you don't force kill the maps app.

But this defeats your original purpose of "saving" a route. Why would you want to do that if you have data on anyway? That feature is only useful if you are hitting the highway and will not get data connection along the way.

Well yes, I do. I was wondering if leaving data ON would cause the cached maps to try and update in a No data zone causing the entire cached information to be lost.

Thank you for the help.

Re: Android Thread: Phones / Apps / Mods

Ever since I installed Paranoid Android on my S3 and then installed Go Launched (Including Go Contacts and Go SMS Pro), I have a problem with keypad vibrations. Every alphabet that I type, it vibrates. Not sure how to disable this but I have tried all types of settings.

Hmm, I am not sure about this, but when I shut data off and kept the maps app live along with the GPS, the cache stayed put and nothing happened.

I reckon the same should happen with the data line kept open (but no actual data connection being there).

I have Currents installed on my phone (HTC Desire) using CM10 and no battery issues what so ever! May be the recent update is helping.

Re: Android Thread: Phones / Apps / Mods

Last day I bought Lenovo S560 mobile for my brother who is looking for a good dual simm Android mobile with good sound quality. This phone has a really amazing sound quality with dual speaker and DOLBY sound. Performance is really good so far and it has very good battery backup (2Ah).

Re: Android Thread: Phones / Apps / Mods

Just a curious question

How will the batteries on phones like HTC One V which have sealed batteries be replaced when the stock one dies out?

What average battery life I can expect from an Android Phone like One V?

Re: Android Thread: Phones / Apps / Mods

@Sameer

in the above screen shot the following values are confusing me - cell stand by @ 47%, phone idle @ 46%, screen @ 3%.

While in my One V it is like screen - 78%, phone idle - 15% and cell standby - 2% and these are with 3g on.

This drain is happening at home?
How is the network at home?
Try this, put it in airplane mode for tonight. The cell standby value should be at third or maximum second position, not at the top.
Or try and put the phone on GSM only.

Yes, at home. Network is good, I get all the bars possible. On 3g, I get around 5-6 mbps at home.

And even keeping it on gsm only, its same. I loose around 45-50 %.

I'll try the airplane mode tonight, let me post stats again in morning then.

The stats are taken after, keeping it idle overnight. During day time, mine is mostly same as yours.

Btw can you please tell me, how much battery % you loose over night ?

With 3g and everything off.

Thanks!

I don't know the reason, but it looks like your cell phone radio is drinking battery juice irrespective of data on or off. Can you try another sim from a different service provider and check the values overnight?
