Buying cheap ones is not a good idea as that tend to die very fast. Batteries are not of the advertised capacity, charging circuitry is not good enough. So it might work as advertised a couple of times, but then it'll just fade away

I came across this one on flipkart and was planning to order one.

Got this from one of the reviews
"It does not have a charger for charging it, we have to charge it from PC or Laptop, or we have to use the charger of our smartphone to charge the device."

Re: Android Thread: Phones / Apps / Mods

Did some tweaking on my Samsung S2 JB 4.1.2 to save some battery life and it is helping a little:
In the developer options:
Ticked : Do not keep activities
Limit background processes : At most 3
Show all ANRs: Yes

This seems to save quite bit of battery and now it is draining at least 30% slower than earlier.

You can get a mugen power battery for your S2.
Had one for mine. Phone would last 24 hours without a charge under extremely heavy usage.

Gaming, lots of calls, internet radio, GPS, Bluetooth and Wi-Fi

Re: Android Thread: Phones / Apps / Mods

My father is currently using a Samsung galaxy S2, and we wants to upgrade. He is not a heavy user, and mainly needs a good screen, and camera.

I personally hate samsung phones, after my rather unfortunate stint with the S1, So looking at HTC. What do you guys suggest around 30k? +/- a few grand is ok.

You don't have much options in that range. HTC one x+ costs about 28-29k, HTC Butterfly costs 35k+ but you'll have to import it. HTC one, their current flagship model, is 40k+. So go for one x+ eyes closed!

I am considering the same, waiting for ironing out bugs if any, price drop.
Also some reviews says the battery does last less in video playback and browser than the competition like HTC one and SGS 4.
Also read somewhere that quality of the free case is not upto the mark.
Had they given Media Dock free I would have jumped the bandwagon.
Any Z user here please share the experience.

Here's my usage so far:

1. The battery lasts me two days. I keep 3G turned off since I just don't want to be bugged by email/internet until and unless I decide to. Helps keep the battery sorted. 3G is a huge sucker of the phone's battery and my time!

2. Phone gets a little warm with video playback. Not hot.

3. The water proofing is great. What's better is that the screen is not laggy if you use wet fingers on it. Which is what happens most of the time. Like I was in the shower this morning, had the phone playing some music on the speaker, and I used a very wet hand to cancel an incoming call.

4. The speaker could have been better placed.

5. Don't like the UI of the stock music app. Can be changed.

6. Camera software is not the best. But its software and can be fixed.

7. The screen is not insanely saturated. Feels dim during the day, but boy is it pleasant on the eyes at night without the lights on!

Already tons of stuff to flash doing the rounds on XDA. Am just waiting for 4.2 before flashing anything. A whole bunch of devs have got this phone, so I expect a good deal of dev.

Please Don't upgrade to JB on your S2!! Trust me I have been really suffering for the past 2 weeks ever since I upgraded it and the official JB upgrade is really bad in terms of the battery life and performance. You are much better off with ICS on your S2.

Thanks for the tip. But still I don't understand why it does not show up when connected to kies.

Thanks buddy, finally had a good hands on the ONE at Best Buy and really loved the phone, its snappy performance and its build quality, really dont want the gimmicky features of the S4 and i kind of liked the Sense over Touchwiz.

Too bad every thing in US got sold out, will have to wait 2 more weeks to order it now, price is quite good here, $ 575 for the 32 gigs unlocked.

I'm not quite sure what's the issue with your phone. I upgraded a friend's and my father's S2 to JB (Both from Odin) and both are running quite well. My dad is a heavy 3G user and says the phone is definitely snappier and the battery life is the same as on ICS if not better.

Kies is junk. Anyway, Kill all kies processes in your PC, relaunch it, upgrade it (if required) and then check. Most probably the update will pop-up. I would recommend PC Odin though!
