One last (I hope!) repair in my self-caused sad saga: Google PLay started to crash and then wouldn't load. A google search suggested making it a system app and Titanium obliged. Now it works.

Hopefully I now have everything recovered and working, and will make a backup with CWM. ...Yes, of course my backups get regularly copied off the phone and onto external backup media: I do do some things right

This is exactly what they call crap and paid media. Zero relation to the hardware - simply saying others are more entrenched without getting into the value of the device. I want the 2 min i spent glancing through that hate-post back!!

in delhi/mumbai it has garnered enough interest - ofc not as much as S4, but still a decent enough interest is there from folks.

phamilyman, pocketnow is generally very good tech site but this article is really crap. XZ is a success for Sony going by sale numbers and is a very good device. Perhaps the writer has written it from very US centric view as this device has not been launched in US. Sony does not play in US it seems. Their main market is Europe. I was in Sweden recently and there everybody uses either Sony phones or the iphones!

The author has made some really stupid points.
Saying the SGS3 essentially had better software than the SXZ.
Samsung OSs are the worst. (in my opinion) also developers are moving away from developing firmware for the exynos SOC.

As far as I know most people prefer stock android to OEM bloated and carrier bloated OSs.

I'm really happy with my SXZ. Just waiting on Sony to release the proprietary Binaries for the camera and stuff. Then switch to a stable CM10.1

Yippie !! Got a Brown Flip Cover for my Galaxy Grand and a Pink Flip Cover for wifey's Galaxy Ace.

Feedback: The back panel is of quality at par with Samsung original product. The front panel however is sub standard quality. It is a simple cardboard unlike the hard one of original Samsung. Have to be careful not to get the front panel wet. Else, it might just melt away.

All in all, a good deal for Rs.327.45 for Grand and Rs.319 for Ace.

I was planning to buy a phone in 10-15k range, I'd be using that for daily use as well as Navigation. There is only one phone in this range which supports GPS as well as GLONASS, that is Galaxy Fame, galaxy express, which is yet to be sold, should be priced around 15k.
Does is make sense waiting for better GLONASS phones or shall I go for standard A-GPS ones?

Piked-up Galaxy S4 yesterday (black)

Initial impression : (Was using S3)

1. Looks : Better from S3 including the fit and finish.
2. Screen : Awesome and very sensitive and smooth.
3. Camera : Much better. I liked it even better than N8.
4. Speed : Dint find much difference over S3
5. Liked : IR blaster and S health.
6. Got a gift voucher (online) for Rs 550/- on samsung hub.
7. Liked the air gesture.

With in 15 min i was prompted for a firmware update.


Cons

Feels it heating up more than S3.
Free memory - showing only 8.8 GB rest all eaten up by free app.

Congrats! Probably first to report S4 user here.
Lookin forward for further report from actual user. Please also check battery usage especially video playback.

Just enquired with one dealer (Jaikishen Bros, near central camera) at Fort, Mumbai about XperiaZ, he quoted 37k.
Went to Lamington roade for graphics card, where accidentally got to see a retailer Raj Electronics, who said he can get it for 35500 with Bill, was not readily available, may be does not stock high priced pieces.
I have to check, probably he is not auth dealer, but his another smaller shop was having some Sony certificate (not authorized dealer).
since it is competitively priced I dont think in gray market it can be availed at this price.
Has anybody checked in Alpha?

I received My Galaxy Grand ordered on 30th April 6:30pm from Zoomin today. Shipping was delayed from Blue dart end due to some change in their pincode.

The outer box was made of ordinary looking material but the inner packaging was brilliant. That one is designed to take good falls as well. There was car mentioning the available accessories. 32GB Class 4 Sandisk is Rs1350 on their site. Overall looks like the best deal for Grand in April. Now just have to see when the EMI and cashback are processed
