Good decision to wait for the Euphoria to pass. Wait for some more time and go for the big kill. Thank God that I didn't give in the temptation of getting the Legend and got the SGS later. I would've been repenting otherwise for sure.

2.2 is available for the Galaxy S now, but its still in BETA. Can be got via kies (in test mode or something like that).

Early reports say GPS fix in 5-10 seconds and better accuracy.
Comments about lag are mixed.
Was reading the thread at xda forum but I was unsure as it's a beta release. I'll wait for the official release and I really want it soon.

When i put in a USA simcard (even a deactivated one) it lets me buy apps from the USA market. Another workaround might be removing the sim and setting your wireless router to use a USA proxy. Haven't tried this one.
Aah, ok. Is there any other way like getting the app to the PC by paying and then upload it to the phone?

Sprucegoose tried GPS Test on his Milestone and said he got a 47.

Anyway. Here are two screenshots showing what Launcher Pro can look like on the Galaxy S. (Pics look soooo dull compared to the SAMOLED screen! - Maybe something to do with the PNG format as well?)

Hi Rehaan, Can you talk a little bit about the icon on your home screen that reads "Quota Usage"?
What exactly does this measure?

Not that i know of. Some apps with developers in non-chargable countries (eg. launcherpro) have some sort of paypal payment integrated into their apps. Worked well for me.

GPRS/Edge/3G data. (NOT wifi).
Great app, lotsss of settings and nice broken up report too.
Check it out : 3G Watchdog - Android app on AppBrain

Two tips for SWYPE users :
1) To get to a PROPER numeric keypad draw a line from the Swpye key to the F key
2) To get to an EDITING keyboard (cursor keys, easy copy/paste etc) stroke from the swype key to the SYM key

I don't think the Milestone is in the same league as the other 2 phones mentioned, because :

- Its already a year old (thats quite old in android-phone years )
- 256mb ram
- 600Mhz A8 processor
- Currently running 2.0

@kaushik_s - Thanks. Had briefly come across it earlier. Will download and see.

Rehaan,

Agree for Milestone in the terms of launch date, but in terms of OS, its running at the moment 2.1, which is latest version available in India, & will be getting 2.2 Froyo Q1 2011.

Ought to mention the great display, QWERTY option(again its individual choice) & great call quality (which in my opinion is a must for any smart phones).

Aye guys the milestone rocks...
not as good as the Galaxy S though, but it has a tactile qwerty keypad.
THe MIlestone comes with 2.1 and a 2.2 upgrade is on its way.

The Droid [Milestone counterpart in the states is already on 2.2]

3.0 will be too much for the Milestone.

Also heard that 3.0 will not be an OTA upgrade, will only come pre-installed.

I'd say wait for a bit. Android is a fast growing market. the longer you wait, the more options you'll have and everythign will be a tad cheaper.

Thanks will try this out.

I found that the default Live wallpapers consuming 15mb of memory. Quite a bit eh? So have switched to a static one.

I've been using an E61i for 3 yrs and the ease of use of a QWERTY keyboard made me decide that I would surely replace it with another QWERTY phone.

But I must admit that I am wavering now. Been playing with Swype on wifey's GS. It's fantastic! I'm really wondering whether I'll miss a QWERTY input, if I have Swype. The icing on the cake would surely be a sleek phone with Swype AND a slide out QWERTY

I'm not saying the milestone is a bad phone - just didn't think it was comparable to the other two mentioned. Sorry - donno why i thought it was still on 2.0.
As for call (sound) quality, thats one area the Galaxy S isn't great. I feel the earpiece makes it hard to hear.

PS - Anmol, thanks again. I see you're selling that case you ordered - may i ask why?

Tasker - POWERFUL program for automating events based on ANY triggers (eg. headphones plugged in, location, time of day, gestures, etc). Complicated to use - but powerful. Paid app. Free 7 day trial on their site.

I had plans of milestone..the one with the QWERTY keyboard, but holding on at the moment. I want a QWERTY and also flash on the camera. Looks like Galaxy Q or Galaxy s pro is going to be my next phone when they are out.

Nope, this one doesn't solve any of those problems. I've downloaded this version very soon after it was launched. Only way to get Chaos recognizing my phone was to format the internal SD card. Arghhhhhhhhhhh.
