Cool quick-access app that uses a swipe gesture at the edge of your screen to bring up a quick-launch menu :

Or you mean to say devices connected in your home network must have a static IP? In that case, I am interested to know how the network is configured and what to to in a PC or device in order to get connected.
When i need to get my laptops connected through the home wifi connection, I need to right click on the wifi network that the pc detected >properties>tcp/ip settings> and use the IP address, DNS server details, netmask details provided by BSNL dataone. This is because my router is not able to retrieve the network addresses automatically.

I use the same settings on my phone too.

However, in a few public places the IP addresses are acquired automatically.

The only problem i get is at public places that requires secured browsing. Like if i go to a hotel, in order to connect to wireless i have to enter room number and name, once that is done, the browser gives up error saying, ;data connectivity problem, try again later'. doesn't happen with home network, same thing happened with mumbai's airport.
AFAIK, you need to enter user name and password for connections at airports, you can get a unique username and password by paying.
Yes, you will be connected to the login page, but you will not be able to proceed further without the UN and password.

Congrats! Did they ship it through First flight courier?

I have just one word for that courier service - HORRIBLE!!!
Their customer service phones are never answered, SMS tracking didn't work and their web site was down the whole day. So basically I am here sitting with no information about my phone which is presently with the courier. They booked the courier on 18-Jan and it has been 3 days and no news about my phone yet.

First flight's transit time calculator told me that I will get it on 19-Jan itself. I have sent a mail to First flight and CC'ed the same to flipkart. Flipkart replied in 5 minutes apologizing the delay but I guess they can't do anything on it now.

Got the phones!

Received the courier today, two HTC desires.
Currently they are put on initial charge without turning on. (As per the manual )

Can't wait to turn them on! Manual says initial charge should be over within 3 hours.

re: Android Thread: Phones / Apps / Mods

I was comparing specs of Nexus S and Galaxy S, and it appears, except for Gingerbread, Galaxy S is indeed better.
At around 24-25K the Galaxy S will be a good deal, right?

I haven't researched a lot on Nexus S, but I bought a Galaxy S after a lot of reviews/research and even though I had to extend my budget a bit (and thanks to desire not coming in at the right time). There were issues with Galaxy S when it had come out, but most of them are fixed now. And at 24-25k, Galaxy S is indeed a very very good deal. And I always show off the screen to any person who wants to see it .

So the Nexus S actually has poorer hardware specs. Only advantage is Android 2.3, and possibility of 2.4 in future?
I think I will chose based on hardware, and the Galaxy S has a slight advantage

My Nokia 6265 stopped running Java apps yesterday. its dying slowly. I guess I will need to buy a new phone soon.
With no Nexus S in market currently, my options are Galaxy S or Desire HD. Wondering what to use!
