Defy <--> Desire

TFT Screen <--> S-LCD
800 MHz <--> 1 Ghz
480x854 <--> 480x800 (Marginal difference)
2.1 <--> 2.2

Desire is better and worth the extra money you pay.

re: Android Thread: Phones / Apps / Mods

Heard that SE X10 Xperia Curve would be out at the end of Q1 and it fixes all the issues with the existing X10 (apart from other fancy features and running Android 2.3?)

Any feedback from existing X10 users on what kind of challenges they face ? I heard the keyboard usage is challenging and the transitions across menus was slow.

Sunil, can you share a brief review of Desire?
Are you on Android 2.1 or 2.2?
Have you setup Exchange mail on your Desire? If yes, how good it is?

Hope these would be in the indian market by feb. Of all these galaxy ace a.k.a galaxy cooper would be having better specs. When would they would come out with mid-range gingerbread handsets?

Finney, I am on 2.2. I like the phone overall. If you refer some of my previous posts here, you will get my view points about the phone.

I have set up Gmail as well as my office mail on it, both works perfect. The only issue that I see with mail client is that you can't multi select and make all of them read or unread. You can only multi-select and delete.

Installed a terminal emulator on my phone, now I get a linux terminal right on my phone!!

At first i thought the Desire was worth the extra money..but that 800 MHz proc is actually faster, because its newer tech. The Desire has the first gen of snapdragon procs. Defy gets 2.2 later this year, March in fact, and ROMs are out that have 2.2, so no biggie there. Desire has the better screen though, but all the reviews so far have not complained too much about the Defy's screen.

Re: Android applications

What did you do to get your first Android?? Well, I just went to my brother.

So, am a complete noob with the Android (and completely bitten by the SE DB2010/2012/2020 platforms). Android pros, please help me with these queries..

1) Is there any application which will help me organise my menu, or to be more precise - the applications and the files. Something similar to the good old SE UIs tree structure..

Android Thread: Phones / Apps / Mods-pic43.jpg

2) Angry Birds doesn't fit to my phones screen resolution (Huawei IDEOS - 240x320 pixels, Froyo) whereas it does fit properly in my friends Samsung i5500 which has the same resolution. Any solution for this?

3) Can we download the installation/setup files of the applications and store it on our phones card?

You have to install Android SDK in your PC.
Connect the phone to PC after that, put it in charging mode, and then take a command prompt, cd to <android sdk>\tools and type in the command ddms.

The debug monitor will pop up, and it should have your device listed in the list view on the left. Select the device and goto the menu Device->Take Screenshot. (If the ddms is not listing your device, you may have to re install the drivers for the device in the PC)

Another window will pop up with options for you to capture, copy and save the screen shots.
