You are right. Prices are much higher in bangalore than else where. Which shop offers the best deals on mobiles in bangalore?

re: Android Thread: Phones / Apps / Mods

Just checked, a firmware upgrade is available for Galaxy S i9003.
My Kies keeps disconnecting the phone before the upgrade starts.
Will reinstall Kies and try. If anybody else was able to update please share your thoughts on the update. See the attached screen shot for the version details

Whatever you buy shashank, make sure you do not overload it with apps

Basic idea is very simple, more you load more you make os heavy.

Samsung gave update to Froyo from Eclair for Galaxy S. For lower end phones, that is true with almost all manufacturers.

I downloaded the booster, using it for about a week now. Looks like the gps issue has been sorted out on galaxy 3 with the booster. Now Iam getting the lock within 2 min.

Thanx for the tip.

The other issue I was facing with the g3 was that the calls were getting dropped regularly. I was on airtel 3g till yesterday. I stopped the service and the call drop issue seems to have stopped. Have you guys experienced anything similar?

2 minutes for a lock is still very high. I get a lock within some 10-15 seconds almost every time.

Observed that locking got faster when I started using offline maps - there is more bandwidth available for communicating with GPS servers in this case, probably because of that. Even with online maps, it never took up to 2 minutes for a lock.

re: Android Thread: Phones / Apps / Mods

Experts,

Recently I tried to play back a movie from my Samsung G3. It's not able to give decent audio output through head sets. It can play music tracks very well and the audio level is also good. But when it comes to play video the audio output is too low that I could hardly hear the dialogues. What is confusing for me is, the speaker can perform in a better way. I've tried my Sony WM head sets, music quality was improved very much as the stock head set quality is average. But this is not helping in watching videos as the audio level is too low even with a good headset.

Is it common with G3 or my handset is faulty?

Any application available which can improve the audio level bit more?

Not having experience with G3 but, just a thought. If the dialogs are only having issue and other sounds are loud enough, why can't you play around the graphic equalizer of the video player so that mid ranges are boosted more?

Thanks for the reply Arun, but there's no such options in G3 while video playback, only option available is adjusting the brightness. Eq is available only on music player. Video play back audio level is too low, so even with EQ settings, there will be very little improvement.

Any G3 users facing this?

I get a lock pretty quickly too, but sometimes it takes about 2 min. This happens only when I am indoor though. So guess the issue then is with the location.

I didn't catch your point on offline maps. How do you do that? Is this possible on google maps?

Also, I just realised that the GPS does not lock when there is no map available (as in when I keep the gprs off).

Have you checked the quality of the video? Some videos are of very low quality and have very bad audio.
