re: Android Thread: Phones / Apps / Mods

I m planning to buy a new (Smart)Phone. Torn between the choices actually.
Saw Samsung Galaxy Fit(Approx Rs.10,700) with Android OS, LG Optimus(Approx 11k). While I did not like the designs of both of these, the only good thing was that both were Android based.
Now, I simply love the Samsung Wave II for almost everything it has but held back since it runs on BADA.
I m planning to keep the phone for 2 years(atleast). So please suggest which one would suit me well.

I dont have much idea about apps for either but I will use the phone like "A College student would " (I dont know how to explain in a simpler way) and a lot of calls as well

PS: Cant afford a single paisa beyond the cost of Wave II

You are already ahead of samsung by ~6 months on 2.2.
This upgrade notification is for ver. upgrade on 2.2 itself, you may miss comfortably as some reports suggest upgrade causing some glitch.

Being a student, whatever it may mean, you should be forward looking.
Future belongs to android, so why not get comfortable with this.

LG Optimus is having better RAM and Battery.

Cheers

If you can spend 10,000 then get LG Optimus 1. Many dealers are selling it for 11000, but then, many are selling for 10,000 also.
eg LG Optimus One P500 Price In India: Buy LG Optimus One P500: Price, Reviews: Flipkart Mobiles

Try 3G Watchdog (free).
3G Watchdog - Android app on AppBrain

Serves the purpose.

re: Android Thread: Phones / Apps / Mods

Thanks for the suggestions earlier...

I had a minor mental tussle between the newly launched Samsung Galaxy Pro, and the Ace. Finally, the better screen and camera won.

I'm stuck at this point too. I read somewhere that K9 is not compatible with Active Sync. Is that the problem?

I'm just not able to configure my office email (MS Exchange 2007) on K9.

Really want alternatives here!

You just made my day my friend! For the last ~1 year since I moved to a BB, I sorely missed the Nokia PC Suite app. On my E71, I could just sync my laptop to phone via Bluetooth and send SMS, create contacts and calendar entries with a breeze.

Now with My Phone Explorer, it seems those days are back

It really makes me use the phone so much more efficiently!

P.S. Looking for the following apps:
1. Reject call with an SMS
2. Profile scheduler

1. For MS exchange Touchdown works seamlessly. Though it is a paid app, you can uninstall before the expiry of 30 days and reinstall

2. For auto sms responder and profile scheduler you can try Tasker : Does a hell of a lot : but it is a little complicated and requires getting used too.

"My phone Explorer" has this feature and is wonderful, just keep refreshing and the it will keep taking the screenshot and you can save it as .jpg files.
