Chevelle, you can use the ES File explorer. It works on Wifi. You just need to share the folder on windows and then you will be able to access that folder from the ES File explorer.

re: Android Thread: Phones / Apps / Mods

I had ordered, LG p500 through Letsbuy.com on 6th, still haven't received the phone. Even though i got around 1600 discount on a coupon, service is pretty pathetic. they took 1 week to ship the phone and from 11th its showing in transit in Fristflight courier. I am loosing my patience waiting for my phone.

I got mine delivered in 2 days flat, through Blue Dart. My experience with Letsbuy was very good. You might want to call up the courier company and check if your parcel is not stuck anywhere, it has happened to me earlier.

You go back to the app in the market, and the "install" button will now say "refund".

Given that there is only a 15min window from the end of the download -- i think perhaps google just doesn't charge your card until after 15 minutes.

Samba filesharing is good the other way around (ie it makes your phone a shared network folder)

call divert -Samsung ACE

Call divert option – The Nokia phones had an option to do a call forwarding in case of no answer .You have an option to select the time before the call is forwarded .

However on the Samsung galaxy ace there is no option to select the time before the call gets forwarded.

Has any one faced such a issue and any ways to overcome the same.

Just saw that flipkart has dropped the price of samsung galaxy s by 2k. Does this mean that the launch of the Galaxy s2 is gonna be any day now in India?

re: Android Thread: Phones / Apps / Mods

I am facing probs in using tethering on ubuntu 9.10 with lg optmius p500.

1. wi-fi hotspot.
easy to configure, wherein we can give name to the wifi connection.
the ubuntu successfully detected the connection. but somehow was not able to access the net.
what might be the issue?

2. usb tethering:
There is no provision to give name to this connection in phone.
the ubuntu lappy was picking the connection that was setup for home broadband. I did try all the conenctions available, but with no access to net.

Anyone faces these issues?

Thanks. I installed it, but when i add new server or scan it, it doesn't detect my computer through LAN. I scanned, but it doesn't display my computer name.

I disabled firewall in computer. But no luck. I tried manual installation and it gives error like login failed, wifi not connected and such options. none of which are true.

Any help?

Re: Android applications

Not sure what happened suddenly, I was using it a while back and had uninstalled it. Installed it again and tried, but facing the same problem, "not able to find the server". Will try few more options and get back to you. There is some discussion on the same in the forum mentioned below ES File Explorer - Page 2 - Droid Forum - Verizon Droid & the Motorola Droid Forum

I just noticed a wierd behavior with alarm clock. Try this:
1) Set alarm for a particular time. Close alarm ap. Goto task manager and clear memory. The alarm d
Fails to work.
2) As before set the alarm. But this time close the clock app using the standard back button. Do not clear memory. In this case the alarm goes on as usual.

This seems to suggest that android 'Clear memory' function closes even the alarm clock.

Iam on i9003 froyo.any body else has noticed this behavior?

re: Android Thread: Phones / Apps / Mods

i am planning to buy the new Motorola XT5 quench/zeppelin which runs on android 2.1 OS.

http://www.flipkart.com/motorola-zep...bctfgsdzhdc8kv

The specs are as below

DisplayType: TFT capacitive touchscreenResolution: 320 x 480 pixelsColor: 256K colorsSize: 3.2 inches
CPU: Qualcomm MSM7201A 600 MHz Processor

Internal Memory: 512MB ROM, 256MB RAM; 2 GB MicroSD card included

I am having a few doubts which only Android phone users can answer:

1. Will the screen be crisp with the above specs

2. With the 600 MHz processor and 512MB ROM will it be fast and lag free?

3. Can i upgrade the 2.1 android to 2.3 gingerbread? does the phone support it.

4. does the GPS with A-GPS runs comfortably without consuming the talktime i.e download charges of net.

any other perfect suggestions within 13000 rs?

The screen is far from crisp.and the quench wont be getting any android updates either
if you want a crisp screen in that budget go for the DELL XCD35.only android below 15k with a 800*480 screen, and 512 ram (unlockable) as well

a 600mhz processor is fast enough for android.what you'll miss out on are 3d games and flash support

The XCD35 also comes with all india MMI maps.so you wont need a data connection while using GPS
