For looking at memory usage / utilisation, what you want is Settings > Storage.
Ok got you. So I guess I need not be worried about the data on the screenshot, right?

If you are billed @ 10 ps per kb, you should be worried!!! 5odd gigs makes a lots of INR.

I use a measly 500MB free plan; and use almost 400 megs.

Couple months back I wanted to buy a new mobile for my wife. She said she wanted an android mobile with equally good display as my Defy, but not larger than Defy. That was simple enough requirement. So I went to gsmarena phone search and gave only the following requirement.

Availability: Available
Height: Less than 110mm
Weight: Less than 120g
Thickness: Less than 14mm
Display: At least 800x480
Operating System: Android

The search result stunned me. Go ahead and check. So much for an old phone.

Re: Android Thread: Phones / Apps / Mods

Ordered my Sprint Samsung Galaxy S2 known as Epic 4G Touch (CDMA version) today. Landing cost 21.5K here in India. Will be used on Reliance CDMA network here in India.

The Epic 4G Touch is a slightly different beast than the GSM Galaxy S2 version of the handset. Obviously, it runs on Sprint’s 4G “WiMax” network (useless in India), but it also has a 4.52” display (versus 4.3”), a larger battery (1800 mAh vs. 1650 mAh) and weighs a bit more (130g vs. 116g).

Link: Samsung Galaxy S

Next Upgrade: Google Samsung Nexus Prime next month.

@dkaile; It is a brilliant phone. I had problems so had to get rid of it. My Dinc2 is also excellent. Feels more rugged as well.

The problem was with the rooting of sprint S2, not the phone. If you don't root it works just fine. Updated root also coming shortly on xda.

Re: Android Thread: Phones / Apps / Mods

Yesterday I calibrated the battery after a full cycle charge. (Deleting batterystats.bin file in /system). This seems to be a recommended procedure after you move to a new ROM.

Now I am observing a notable improvement in battery life. Charged 100% yesterday afternoon by 3:00 and I have 41% left even now with data on all the time. Unbelievable with MIUI ROM!

After calibration, it is recommended that you discharge it fully before charging again.

@clever: how do you discharge the battery fully? Any software?

Or just use until it dies?

Re: Android Thread: Phones / Apps / Mods

@Clevermax.

Custom roms are giving excellent battery life. My sgs2 on leo mar with 100% match coverage yesterday over GPRS and Cricbuzz app lasted close to 40hrs before it died. I am just amazed knowing my SGS2 with stock rom would last exactly 12-14 hours for my usage before it died.

@ Headers,

Just let the phone die on you with 0% battery and recharge to 100 % giving a little additional time of charge.

If that is Cellular data transfer (3G or 2G), then it's a lot of data and you would end up paying a helluva of a bill. What's your data plan ? Usually once you cross your limit you get charged at 10ps/10KB which translates to around 10 per MB or Rs. 10.24 per MB (dependent on whether the provider considers 1000 or 1024 KB per MB). That would translate to around Rs. 1,000 per GB. 5GB would correspondingly be around 5,000/-

Is your data counter only checking cellular data transfer ? Or is it also checking WLAN usage and the 5GB shown is a consolidated usage ?

I think it includes WLAN too, as I've not been charged for extra usage by airtel so far---I am on a modest Edge plan of Rs 99 per month on a pre-paid sim

These 10ps/10kb lootings are still around?
My provider charges 2ps/100kb beyond allotted limit.

Just used it until it died. I can turn it on again for a minute or so, before it dies again.
