Try using a car reader and read the card using a computer. Worst case you have to format the card in the computer and mount it as a new card in your phone.

Try unmounting/Mounting few times in the phone.

Also remove the card, clean the contact points in the phone as well as the card and try mounting/unmounting few times.
Cleaning contacts not done will do.

Let me list out what happens -

I go to applications-myfiles
I see a folder external_sd ( a small memory card is displayed on this folder)
I open folder and find another folder LOST.DIR
I open LOST.DIR - shows empty

I open ES file explorer and browse to /mnt/sdcard/external_sd/
shows one folder LOST.DIR
I open LOST.DIR - empty

I go to Settings-Storage
Shows - 1) Internal Storage - 2 gb 2) USB Storage 11.50 GB 3)SD Card - 14.82 GB (14.66 GB since some apps are on the SD card)

Next I connect the phone with the USB cable to PC
I get 2 removable disks.
One contains all the folders
The other shows LOST.DIR and .android_secure folder
LOST.DIR is empty
.android_secure contains - files with extension .asec for the apps I moved on the SD card

So why can't I see these apps on the SD card on the phone ?

I copied a movie on the SD card - disconnected the phone from the PC and browse to external SD card via MYFILES and I can see the movie file and the LOST.DIR

Whats wrong ?

Flash drives have some problem when disconnected without unmounting them from desktop. " Safely remove the harddrive" option in Windows is usually needed while mounting and unmounting harddisks/flash drives from Windows PC.

Most of the times the file system will not be corrupted. But sometimes the file system gets corrupted and is never recognized by PC or the phone.

Sometimes if the system is recognized by one of the partition software, do a hard format and create a new file system(FAT or NTFS) and then start using the card.

Currently your card is close to being corrupt or already corrupted.

Suggestion at this point is to see a way to format the card and use it as new.

I always use the "safely remove the hard drive".

I formatted the card to FAT32 and then started using the card.

The folders which starts with . 'Dot' are considered as hidden in under Unix environment. So what u seeing is completely normal. Just for into options of es file explorer & select the option to show hidden files also, I guess that should solve your issue.
For test in you can do following:
Connect your phone to PC with Mass storage mode. Create to folders 'Temp1' & '.Temp2' - with dot. Now from PC you can see both the folders but from mobile you should only see Temp1. .Temp2 will be visible only if show hidden files option is enabled from explorer.

Re: Android Thread: Phones / Apps / Mods

How do we pay for the apps on Android market?
I read up on the net about a very very confusing system named Google Wallet. I did not understand much about it. Is there any other straight forward way of paying for apps here?
(I have not tried to pay for anything yet, I wouldn't like to key in my credit card number anywhere before I get recommendation from my good friends at team-bhp.
Guys, Please advise.

Also, I have installed a custom ICS rom on the S2. In ICS the market is not there. It is replaced by something called Google Play. Is this a confirmed official replacement of Market? I mean no disrespect to the developers of the Custom ROMs, I thank God for them, but still I am wary as it involves online payment. ICS dudes, your inputs please.

If you are not comfortable paying for apps through phone, you can direclty pay using your laptop going to android market.

Secondly google play is the new avtar of Google market

https://play.google.com/about/

I personally make payments only via laptop and not via phone.

Either way, we are trusting our data, including card details, to Google. I don't like that ...but, what to do? If we want, we have to buy. If there is only one shop, we have to shop there.

Re: Android Thread: Phones / Apps / Mods

Guess I am very late to this. Got an irresistible deal from saholic.com and got myself a basic Android phone. Spice Mi-270

Android Thread: Phones / Apps / Mods-spicemi270default1326716262706.jpg

It has Android 2.2 Froyo with dual sim. Only drawback is it is 2g. Anyway, a great looking android at a great price. Rs.3399/- only.

I guess this Android will do till my Nokia 5230 conks.

Re: Android Thread: Phones / Apps / Mods

Smitten by the BB bug. Suddenly the BB looks more VFM after the price cut. Planning to swap my Galaxy S I9000 Super AOMLED for the BB Torch 9860. Any pointers regarding the best price I can get for the i9000 Super Amoled?

And what are the drawbacks you see in switching over to BB from Android?

PS: My Galaxy S i9000 is 9 months old. Bought for ~25k

EDIT: Just realized that the 9860 doesn't come with a slide out QWERTY KB. My Bad! I don't think that it would makes a sensible from the Android!

Why is this concern? How is it different from buying something online?

Like... If I trust Amazon, why don't I trust Google?

Offtopic, I guess ... But I don't feel that Amazon (etc) are trying to own the world and every detail of every life. But then, without Google, i wouldn't have an Android phone. Complex issues, and, to be honest, I'm really not sure where I stand on them.

I think the difference is that Google Wallet stores your credit card details on their server so that you don't have to enter the credit card details the next time. The same is the case with Apple Itunes where I had to enter my credit card details even if I had always downloaded free apps. This way, your security depends on how secure Google or Apple's systems are.
With an online purchase, you are taken to a secure page where you enter your credit card details but they are not stored anywhere.

I have a very old card on which I have rejected all credit limit enhancement offers and this is the only one I use online. High limit cards should ideally not be used for online transactions as you stand to lose a lot more money in case the card details get into the wrong hands.
