Other times I will be using it as a phone or with my laptop via a suitable connection.

Anyone with actual experience here? Thanks
Samsung Omnia W IMHO rocks. Defy battery evaporates in a similar usage!

15' IDK, but have seen it doing awesomely for 4 people at 7-8' radius.

Else try Navfree.
I have a licensed Sygic 12.1.3 now.
Checked with support. India map provider is still MMI.
MMI website also has India maps (just like Google Maps) and the maps there as well are outdated by more than 10 months.

So, MMI is the problem and not Sygic.

iam having sygic 11.2.6.
how to find maps date? i tried all menu options but couldn't find it.

S_U_N - i tried changing state and town info and then retried (changed city from bangalore to doddaballapur) - no luck. still couldnt find a temple in that doddaballapur town.

Did someone in bangalore using sygic 11.2.6 with mmi for android and tried searching for temples like 'ghati subramanya', 'chikka tirupati' (just outside bangalore) have any success?

Actually there is no good or bad or better about various ROMs.

Some work flawlessly and other users may face issues or other nagging issues with the same ROM on the same device.

Just try flashing each of them, read multiple user reviews available on the xda and settle in for the one that works best for you.

Re: Android Thread: Phones / Apps / Mods

CM7.2 is the best bet when it comes to battery life.

CM9 and CM10 are not exactly battery friendly yet.

All are different flavors of android so it all comes to what is needed for you.

After looking at all the options have narrowed down to Samsung Galaxy S Advance & Motorola Atrix2.

Also how is the development scene for atrix2 in comparison with S Advance if current users know more about this?

I was in the same situation as you a fortnight or so back and wondering how sensible it was to opt for a Motorola device. So I tried to find some info on that. Came across a statement from Motorola Mobility -APAC region- big shot about their plans for India. Seemed sensible enough to me, so opted for Motorola Defy+. You can scroll back a couple of pages and you will find a link for the same. Also spoke to a retailer to whom I was referred by the company, his take on the issue was MM might be rebranded with the takeover by the big G (and hence the confusion at the current time) and their focus will move to android devices where they can have better margins.

Re: Android Thread: Phones / Apps / Mods

I need a ROM that is nearly bug free or has very minor bugs. Read that they have solved the video recording issue in CM10 which was present in CM9. And if CM7.2 is concerned then Democracy seems good. Now tell me which is good among these??

Thanks

Yes calls I do but not too many. Messaging I do a lot. And net surfing is also important. So wifi is important. My mobile is Samsung Galaxy Gio.

Thanks

Have you checked the wiki page for your phone on Xda? At least let us know the available roms! Roms are phone specific and a generic feedback on CM may not hold true for your phone model.

Re: Android Thread: Phones / Apps / Mods

Which phone for a budget of $420-450? A known person is carrying it back to India.

I was considering-

Samsung Galaxy S2 skyrocket

Sony Xperia S or SL if it really is worth (please clarify)

Any other phones I should consider?

Also, is amazon much safer to place an order online compared to ebay?

Thanks in advance.
