Re: Android Thread: Phones / Apps / Mods

MY LG G3 (unrooted) heats up quite often while it lying peacefully in my belt pouch . I have also noticed that in such situations, the battery drains at a much faster rate.

Request inputs on how can I identify on what is causing this.

Under developer options disable unnecessary animations. Would reduce heating and battery consumption.

Thanks Anmol, I have disabled the animations now. However, not sure if this will really help as the phone is getting heated even when it is not being used.

The best option is to root the phone, install xposed and go through the below thread http://forum.xda-developers.com/andr...-life-t3095884

I had similar issue with my OnePlus One which is under control now.

Re: Android Thread: Phones / Apps / Mods

Got the notification for Marshmallow on my Moto X Style yesterday. Download (about 651MB) and upgrade took all of 15 minutes and went through smoothly. In fact but for 6.0 for the OS it is invisible, battery life appears to be the same or better.

Can't wait for the OTA update of Moto X Play!
I think it'll be next in line for 6.0 after the Style!

Re: Android Thread: Phones / Apps / Mods

Need advice on a few (possible) issues on a week-old new Moto G3:

1. The data connection indicator never shows H+, in the exact same locations where my erstwhile S3 showed H+. The Moto never gets beyond E/H. Speedtest shows 6/3 Mbps on Download/Upload tests, pings are in excess of 200ms no matter what server I try to test against.

2. The battery is no great shakes either. Even with minimal usage, I'm managing just over a day before it's plugged back in. Also noticed the battery voltage usually stays below 4 Volts (checked on BatteryBot app). Is this normal?

3. I turned off every possible useless (to me) Google Service, leaving only Gmail and a couple of other service ON to sync, but Google Services are still the top entry on battery usage stats. Location Services seems to have a mind of its own, and Google Location Service is present on the stats even with 'Location' turned off everywhere I could find it.

Help?

Yep, looks like it.

I dug deeper and it does show HSPA+ in the About > Status > SIM Status area, and speeds are similar to my previous phone's Speedtest log. I guess I'm only missing the '+' visually.

Re: Android Thread: Phones / Apps / Mods

I have received my Mi 4i yesterday. Everything went smooth, zero complaint's. Only issue is a prompt which keeps on bothering. Am attaching a screenshot of it. It has something to do with roaming, but just cannot ignore it, and have to press cancel to remove.

Android Marshmallow has this new feature called 'doze.'
When the phone hasn't moved from the same position, or the proximity sensor doesn't recognize any change, the phone automatically suspends all background apps.

This feature works only if you're the kind who doesn't check his phone too often. The threshold time for Doze to kick in is about 30 minutes I think.

I think you have to enable international roaming on your device.

Goto: Settings> Mobile Networks> International Roaming and then toggle international data roaming.

Else,

check the following steps:

Settings> Mobile Networks> Cellular networks and toggle it to choose automatically.

Hope this helps.

My cousin (sister) wants a Spare phone with following requirements (not in particular order)-
1. Minimum 5.5" FHD
2. Nice Camera
3. Good amount of RAM
4. More Internal Memory for User to install Many apps
5. Single or Dual Sim- any will do.
6. Budget <10K
7. Should last for a Lifetime (her words)
8. Should be able to reduce the brightness to such level that does not strain eyes at night in dark. Her (as well as mine) Micromax phones put strain on eyes at night in dark surroundings even after keeping the brightness setting to least possible setting.

Which to go for?
She can wait till this Dec or Jan 2016.

Except for a 5" screen, the Mi4i ticks all the boxes.
Xolo launched a new phone, which also might work.
Asus also has some decent phones, per your requirement.
Or the bloated Samsung's new J series phone.

Asus Zenfone Laser 5.5 should meet her requirement to the T.

Redmi Note. Look no further. Ticks all boxes. To reduce screen brightness further, I use an app called Screen Filter. Works great for night use and reading
