I have the H57 an is much better the the 1100HT...
But dont buy from soundsmith as I bought mine from them at 1,55,000 and they charged me 30K more than its market value...
Get in touch with Avelec Projection systems ... In the Times AV show they were selling it at 1,25,000 with bill and warranty..

Hey, thanks for the tip. BTW, how do you watch your movies in H57, I mean what kind of light? Have you tried it in regular or low light condition?

The latest DLP projectors are awesome. They are tiny, and the sound made by the fans have reduced as well.

If you do not already have a full home theater setup, you can buy the theater in a box from HP. It has a DVD player, Speakers, and the projector in one small package. Drop the dvd and watch the movie.

If you have all the wiring done, look at Infocus projectors. I love it. LP120 weighs less than a kg. http://www.infocus.com/SubSegments/SMB.aspx

If you have access to Costco through friends, they have great Projector + screen combo deals. Trustme watching movies on a real screen makes a lot of difference. http://www.costco.com/Browse/Product...topnav=&browse=

I know I am replying to a really old thread, but hope it helps,

Which Projector

Reviving this thread as its quite old. Would like to get some feedback from folks who recently got a Home Theater Projector

1. Which brand/model did you purchase ? Are you satisfied with it ?

2. Is there a noticeable difference between a 720p and a 1080p HT projector ?
I don't want to get a 720p now and regret the decision later

(Please answer only if you have viewed one, not based on logical reasoning )

2. Shortlisted ones
- BenQ W5000
- Panasonic PT-AE2000U

3. Are there dealers in Bangalore for HT Projector's ?

Ps: I have checked the reviews on ProjectorCentral.com

Go for the Panasonic PT-AE2000U, it is available for approx 1.3l to 1.4l in the grey market.

And get it insured so no worries. And make sure you get a 1kva online UPS to run it.

Online is very important as offline UPS damage the Power supply of the projector.

Thanks absynthguzzler, I have been to USK and they seem to be asking double the US $ price for infocus brand models. I am sure the projectors are more expensive in india but i am surprised that nearly double! Are there any better options in Hyd?

Why dont you try the Optoma HD65, its available in Bangalore for about 64000 with bill and warranty. The same in the US retails for about 900 to 1000 $, considering the ruppee falling and the warranty included the HD65 is worth a buy for 64,000. Its 720p DLP projector and has excellent reviews.

Thx

Srisha

Or .. wait for some more time till the prices of 1080p models become cheaper in India.

If you are getting a projector might as well get a 1080p, With PS3's becoming cheaper and more releases on Blu-Rays. A couple of months or a year down the road you might regret settling for a 720p.

Hopefully HD TV will also be on its way soon with Airtel leading the way.
But then this is my personal opinion.
