any specific reason or data for that statement..??

even if you take the 6600 as an example, it took more than two years for the prices to drop to that levels...

anyways, i know that the prices will drop eventually. but not at the rate quoted here....

How does the N70 (26K here) compare to the W800 (20K here)?

navinji, as far as i know, the differences are limited to some of the softwares and memory capacity mainly. i.e, the sony has 34 MB of internal space, has a 512 MB RS-MMC as O.E, and has features like dedicated audio controls, along with features like autofocus, etc. for it's cam.

the n70 goes a step ahead, and is a smartphone. it offers 3G, EDGE, high-speed browsing, etc. although, internal memory is limited to 30 MB (usable 20 MB), and only comes with a 64 MB RS-MMC.

the pros and cons of both models, that i found, were;

S.E. W800i;

pros:great cam, user-friendly, good battery-life, walkman-usability, O.E 512 mb memory stick.
cons:small screen, no 3G or EDGE.

NOKIA N70;

pros:nice cam, softwares (although most of them are pretty useless for me, for now), 3G, EDGE, high-speed browsing and what not.
cons: screen resolution could have been a little better, battery life barely sufficient, slightly big and heavy, and a useless extra "media key".

The reason for the statement above is the new hi-tech smartphones coming from manufacturers in January 2006.

motorola A1010 for 24K (approx) sonyericsson p990i for 28k(approx) . The price ranges are confirmed. Now tell my why would some1 buy a n70 even for 17K?

there are already 3mp phones planned.

N70 is a lot better phone than the w800i/k750i if you dont take into account the megapixel camera clarity. WHile n70 is not bad SE is good at taking pics.

Otherwise N70 is a smartphone. In india the other advantage is its a "nokia". Plus you can play n-gage games on the n70 which makes it a gamers phone. While the SE waklman doesnt really have anything great over the n70 nokia is a 3g video phone.W800i is no slouch though.

w800i if you want to make a statement and need a camera
n70 for the features and resale(Its a nokia smartphone after all)

Dev you said the N70 will fall from 24K to 17K (30%) in 2 months and you say it has resale value? I am confused. do you mean that the W800 will fall from 20K to 10K (50%) in the coming 2 months?

Hey Navin by resale I meant it will fetch a good price as a nokia branded phone.It wouldnt fetch such a good price after price reduction if it were some other brand. Such is the loyalty of the Indian market towards nokia.

About the SE w800i the prices will not really fall by 50% as the demand is very high but prices will fall sharply for sure.I assume the walkman phone will be prices around 15K in January end 06.

look at how sonyericsson has got the t610 price down. within 6months I saw a 35% price reduction to accomodate the t630 and to sell against the competition.

look at the p910i. I was about to buy it in decemeber 04 for 38K and now it retails at 23K.

I also remember the classic case of my friends nokia 6220. He bought it for around 23k before diwali and the prices were around 10k in christmas.

now is not the right time to buy a mobile phone. february first week will be a better time with stable and low prices and lots of new models in the market with advanced feature set.
