Finally a found the thread for my beloved Spica here at team-bhp.
Well I have some good news for all the owners of spica, even though Samsung has not updated the Spica to 2.2 the developers over at samdroid.net have done so.
As of now I am running Android 2.2 on my Spica, the build is made by a developer called "criminal" over at samdroid.net and is based on the CyanogenMod 6.1 Release Candidate 1.

Seriuosly guys you need to try out Android 2.2 on the spica, it runs like a charm.
Add to that the multitouch feature enabled (the phone is capable of 2 simaltaneous touches but Samsung never bothered to write the drivers but the developers at samdroid did it). There are other features like a very good 3d chip but buggy drivers from Samsung which do not give the full 3d gaming capability of this phone, also it has a proximity sensor drivers for which again have not been written by Samsung.

The Spica is one hell of a phone and running Cyanogenmod on the Spica is like a lifetime experience.

If you guys need any help on the Spica running Cyanogenmod feel free to PM me.

Great info! My ears were waiting for such news!

Hey, The forum I went through said new things like GPS, Audio, WiFi werent working in Spica with Froyo. Is this true?

What are the limitations after updating it to Froyo.

Please post some more details here before we taking it offline (PM) so other readers too benefit.

Thanks.

@devrajman - Hi buddy, as of now the cyanogenmod on the spica is very stable, the only thing which is not working is hardware accelerated playback.
GPS, Audio and Wi-fi are working fine, the only problem with Wifi is that it does not connect to a ceratin type of Wifi, not sure which one as I do not use Wifi on my cell phone.

Also the camera has some problems with some green lines in the middle while taking pictures.
For a more detailed list of bugs and what is working and whats not I request you to go through this thread CyanogenMod-6.1.0-RC1-Spica-alpha7 - Discussion/Feedback/Bug reports

I have been running it since the day it was released and find it usable for day to day use as I do not use the Camera and Wifi of my phone.

Also if we are lucky eough we might even have the FM Radio enabled on this mean phone, it has the BroadCom BCM4325 chip which has an integrated FM Radio with drivers being the problem, but with Cyanogenmod with help from Miui (a group of chinese hackers) having enabled the FM Radio on the Nexus One, the developers are trying to port it to the Spica as well.

In case spica owners are not aware, CyanogenMod 7 port is now available, add to that an overclocked 1 GHz kernel for CyanogenMod 6 port.
