Hope this is compatible with the mac book air which I have.
And what are the feature upgrades except for the speed and space saving?
Anything special ?

It will definitely be compatible with MacBook Pro/Air. No change in UI but new features are:
  • Multi-touch gestures: No touchscreen, they will stick to trackpad and Magic Mouse for input.
  • App Store: Like on iPad, you purchase apps using your iTunes account and they download and install in just one step. Also coming to Snow Leopard.
  • App Home screens: Like Expose, with new ones like full screen.
  • Full screen apps: Launchpad makes it easier than ever to find and launch any app
  • Auto save
  • Apps resume when launched
What really worries me is App Store. Although clearly Apple has not yet closed down OS X - you would still be able to download and install apps from elsewhere but this is just the stepping stone to eventual lock down of OSX similar to the way apps are locked down on the iPad and iPhone.
It's truly remarkable that Steve Jobs is finally starting to make Microsoft look good. And this comes at a time when Windows is, actually, looking halfway decent and MacOS is starting to look a little dated.

Yes, as in compared to the likes of iMacs and MBPs which do outsell MBA by i-dont-know-what-ratio.
