Ok, further investigation unearthed the fact that Vodafone Live! service is not full GPRS. It is limited to allow only WAP sites and no https sites. BAD.

To actually use unrestricted internet access, I need to purchase Vodafone Mobile Connect, which is the full GPRS.

I think the cheapest GPRS plan on Vodafone is Rs. 199 per month rental, while on Airtel is about Rs. 98.

can anybody suggest the most economical plan, specially on Vodafone?

The www.team-bhp.com group on Waze just got its 119th member

I haven't spotted many BHPians from Goa though, so it may be a lonely drive for me

Folks,

K1000 rally is happening in Sammy's Dreamland, Bangalore tomorrow. Any Wazers planning to visit the event.

Great opportunity to network/co-ordinate/share locations with other Waze users!!

Am a waze user in chennai & I have to say that this app falls way short in providing directions.

That being said, I'm in Bangalore for the weekend & the directions are spot on! Each and every route that I've looked up including not so frequented residential ones have a routing available. In fact routes are available for areas marked as unexplored as well!

I'm getting the error message on routes already travelled on several times. "Routing server error: could not find route"

I'm in Chennai. Was in Bangalore over the weekend & when I chose "drive to" from Bangalore to different locations in Chennai I got spot on directions every single time. But when I got back to Chennai & looked up the route to the very same locations it's a big NADA.

Find it really surprising that the app can get the routes right from across state Borders but can't get the route right from the very same city!

What gives????!!!!

its a sign of things to come. the writing on the wall says - "move to Bangalore"

jokes aside, it could just a matter of mapping. when i was being chauffeured around in Chennai, i used Google Maps to learn the places i was passing through and it was pretty accurate. see if Google Maps works for you. if it does, then i should just be a mapping issue.

Don't think the in-laws will be too happy seeing me move into the neighborhood.

Yep google maps works like a charm. Now if only Steve could kiss & make up with Schmidt & I'd be on my way with Google's sat-nav app in my 4!

I would say if you otherwise like the app, keep using it and give it a chance to learn.

At Goa, the first time I set up a route from home to office (20+ km), Waze predicted a driving time of 1 hr 22 min. After driving the route with Waze running about 6-8 times, today that was down to 31 minutes, which is about how long I take most days. Also, the program was initially guiding me to take a turn into a terribly narrow village road (which is maybe immeasurably shorter, or not), but today selected the correct main road ... probably as a result of my driving at speeds up to 90 on that section.

One thing's for sure, it'll take quite some time (except in Bangalore ) before you can rely solely on Waze to get you to your destination. But then, MapMyIndia's navigator repeatedly guides me to take a left into a dead end road within our campus -- and it doesn't learn!

(Note to Moderators: if it is against policy to mention a specific brand, please feel free to replace "MapMyIndia's" with "GPS". Thank you)

don't worry about what the website says. once it showed zero members in group Team-BHP and my stats were completely wiped. got it back again after a few days.
