Interesting...!!! I was about to search/ask for android based tablets myself.

My requirements:

- Should not be as slow as the 'netbooks'
- Allow USB (in iPad this is a deal breaker for me)
- Make phone calls
- GPS and allied services
- 3G
- WiFi

What are the choices in the Indian market.

NOTE: The olive pad is coming in with lots of freebee's

Considering the Speed of updates coming to Android OS, better buy a unit having a processor of 1Ghz or higher.

i too was about to search on this. Does the DELL STREAK fit your requirement? I saw an advert on that in TOI a few days but i have been travelling ever since. I am planning to go check it out at the DELL store upon returning back. To me DELL makes more sense as i think its more compact and easy to carry.

Dear ghpk the listing you are referring to has been removed from the link provided
http://cgi.ebay.in/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?...m=160495928189

and the very next posting says that it was faking specifications in case of aPad, so IMHO that should have been the reason for De-listing.

Moreover, I like to believe Olive is decent enough company.

Cheers

There must some ignorance on the part of Sangeeta dealer (or I need to know something). I saw a new sealed box being brought in and the salesman said its 28K ! I was shocked. I showed him the MRP sticker of 38K, but still he was not changing his view. He said 28K!

Galaxy Tab - Has almost all features 3g, Gps, Geo tagging, Ebook reader etc - 38k pricy

Dell Streak - 5" Screen, and All other features as above. - 35k
Dell is more logical for daily use as phone + internet browsing device.
Need to evaluate the quality of Phone, after sales service etc

I'm still waiting for a decent 10" Android tablet with high-res screen. It seems like majority of the tablets are coming in 7" form factor.

It is better to wait for the Ginger Bread to be released before going for a tablet. Froyo is not made for tablets and there are issues reported. Ginger Bread is expected to be released this month (Starting with the Nexus One . I own one).

Yeah, it can be perfect device, they are giving free life time MapMyIndia subscription with it as well.

In 13,000 extra for Galaxy tab, one will get:
1.) Better resolution
2.) More disk
3.) More CPU
4.) HDMI output (will have to buy cable).

What else?
