was quoted 23,xxx for Bold 3 and 28,xxx for Torch.

thanks.
bold 2 is still available and the current price is around 18-19k. Check with few dealers you will definitely get a good deal and ya mobile store prices are always steep. FYI- touch is around 24-25k.

In addition to above 9700 has 3.2MP while 9780 Comes with 5MP Camera.

@Harshal, Bold 2 is not discontinued yet afaik.

Re: Blackberry Phones and Services in India

Hello friends,

Iam using BB9780, 6 months old. Iam facing a peculiar problem that while typing from the keypad, the keys are pressed twice or even thrice. It really becomes quite irritating as it reduces the typing speed.
For ex - typing a word "Speed" it may type "sspppeeed"

Has anyone else also faced the same issue? Pls suggest what to do.

I face a similar problem in my 8520 but only with the "N" button. Rest all are proper. Also the "O" button on my 8520 needs to be pressed with a bit of a force.
Sorry don't know any remedy though.

Re: Blackberry Phones and Services in India

@uneet the easiest remedy for that is to go under screen and keyboard and change key rate to something slower. Generically it should be set to (normal) but someone may have changed it or it maybe too fast for they way you use the phone.

@strangewizard if your handset is still under warranty get it serviced they will do it for free.

@inder BB maps do not function in india. They do not have the maps. Use Google Maps or even waze.

Thanks. I checked around and got quotes for Bold 3 @ 23,xxx and Torch @ 28,xxx.

I confirmed with a few dealers around and was told that company has stopped supply Bold 2 and only the dealers with stocks are selling it. But, the Bold 2 is @ 22,250 and Bold 3 just 1K more.

Last I inquired the Bold 2 was retailing for 18k without bill and 20.5k with bill and bold 3 for 23k.

At the same place called Alpha, the Torch was available for 25k without bill and 28k with bill.

@ valhallen--My phone is not in warranty anymore and there are quite some issues with it. The issues are really minor and I can live with them but still I think its time to change the phone in a couple of months. I bought it from a grey market.

Re: Blackberry Phones and Services in India

@harshal Blackberry does not abruptly stop supply of handsets. In fact until very recently the old 83xx series handsets were still available despite the 89xx/9xxx and 85xx/96-7xx gen handsets coming out. Please check with a service provider store. My vodafone store guy still has lots of handsets.

@strangewizard grey market+old+issues is a recipe for 'you should replace soon' though I would wait another 2 months and buy from the new OS7 series handsets. Despite the high cost. Or a second hand 85xx/89xx or the bold 2 if you can get it

Hi Valhallen,

Thks for the info.

I inquired for a used bold2 and bold3 and they are available for 14k and 18k respectively. But i guess I'll use my curve for some months and then buy a phone from the new ones that will be launched with OS7.
