Good news for those waiting for the perfect BB- The new Bold 9700. Pre-order pricing is out for UK & Canadian markets, at around 25,000Rs. Phone will be on sale in 2 weeks.

Pretty decent pricing considering the previous bold was 35k. The new one packs quite a punch. Finally a replacement for my iPhone

I highly doubt there will be that much of a price difference. People buying these higher end phones are usually world travelers and they will manage to get it for 25k from abroad if reddington etc price is so much higher. This will also give the grey market a good gap to fill, which official carriers/reddington cannot leave open.
Maybe initially prices will be north of 30 in India due to the hype but eventually it will have to stablise.
I checked prices of other BB's in the UK and they were all around the same figure as what we get here.

Got myself a BB Curve 8520 last evening after having a tough time with my 2 8100s that I have prior to this. The trackballs on the 8100 were getting on my nerves.

Thank you RIM for the trackpad feature, that has made me heave a huge sigh of relief.

Congrats Suren, Party kab hai?

Seems like you got enamoured by Dilip's phone. Lucky you that you are out of the trackball thing. Sometimes it indeed drives you up the wall.

Look forward to a short review in a few days

Sahil everywhere I see it says 600$ can you tell me where you saw the blurb? I totally agree with what you have to say about the prices/target consumers though. Redington better not screw this up.

No more crapware and operator bootup screen. It will be replaced by the RIM/BlackBerry logos.
.
I have done that exercise twice in the last 2 months, instructions as read in some international forums, but so far I am not successful in that. May be I have to try again and see the luck.

Rogers generally is overpriced. Basically they have to show you a huge price so that you can easily digest the lower contract price. Rs. 25K is a very safe number. It could easily be lower in a month or so.

Is it really this cheap? I might have to ask someone coming from Canada in next few days about it.

One more thing, what about warranty? Is Canadian Warranty valid in India (Suppose I say someone gifted me that)!

I don't think RIM offers an international warranty hence it won't be valid here if purchased from Canada.

And news of the BB9700 hitting DXB stores yet?
