Vodafone has launched a new plan for postpaid subscribers called 6999. On advance rental of Rs.6999/- for 12 months, one gets unlimited surfing and emails. Plan is essentially same as Enterprise plan.Plan 6999 can be activated by making payment in vodafone stores. Requests on 111 are not accepted since upfront payment is required. I have been using since last 5 days and quite happy wth the BB services. Hope this helps.

@live2drive- Why don't you opt for the yearly 6999 plan? It is the same as the 1099 but works out to almost half the price if you pay it in advance for the entire year.

@Sahil: 6999 is including taxes? If yes then the offer is quite tempting and I may opt for it.

I think it's now changed to just ACT BBE. Try both.

If your company e-mails run on Enterprise Server (like mine), only 899 provides support for Enterprise Server activation. 1099 does not.

Only the 899 plan allows you to access your Company's email server (provided it is Blackberry enabled). I will be getting one in a few days time and will let you know.

Yes I think so. Even if taxes are extra it will still be much cheaper than 899

BB Advance Rental

Airtel has two advance Rental plans for BB Prosumer unlimited which is similar to the Rs.1099 plan in Vodafone

Rs.3999 for 6 months (including taxes)
Rs.6999 for 12 months (including taxes)

I am on the Rs.3999 plan. Similar plans should be available for vodafone.

If you need to activate BES (BlackBerry Enterprise Server) which enables you to sync Calendar, Contacts etc apart from E-Mail support, there's only 899. However, plain e-mail configuration can be done on other plans as well - with some exceptions depending on your company server of course.

I have a vodafone number and recently i lost my phone so looking for a new handset for the same vodafone number. would like to go for blackberry. i need this for personal e-mail and yahoo messenger.

1. what is the most VFM blackberry handset? (looking at 8520 or 8310 range, definitely < 20K budget)
2. what is the cheapest service plan from vodafone? (I see Rs.299 unlimited email from vodafone - looks good on paper to me)

Thanks.
PS: I have office blackberry which I don't want to use for personal stuff, so I really want an affordable blackberry deal for my personal use.

1. BB Curve 8520. Will set you back by 13K.
2. You are right. 299 plan will give you unlimited mails and IM's.
