If you mean the battery lasts 6-8 hours of talk time, then there is no problem at all. In fact, you are getting better battery life than the company's claims Below is the link (Indian BB site) & a picture from that link that clearly states the battery life as 4.5 hrs of talktime & 17 days as standby time.

Now, if your getting standby time of 6-8 hrs, then youve got a serious problem

Battery life on 8520 is indeed bad. I have it for 2 months now. On a good day (i.e. 3-4 calls and not many emails), it lasts me for a day (esp on the weekends).

However, on hectic days (i.e. 7-10 calls, 20-30 emails, Bluetooth, browsing etc) it drains out before I hit the bed. This was especially true on my recent 1 day travel to Kolkata. I charged it fully in the morning before leaving (6 am). Was on the phone for a good part of the day - either on SMS, email or calls. The result - it drained out by 7 pm!

yup, i mean't standby time. I don't have many phone calls, 2-3 long calls and constant gprs usage. But it hardly lasts. Has anyone used a bigger battery?

Yes, 8520's battery is bad. It doesn't last even a day.

Whereas, my wife's E63's battery can stay put for over 2-3 days.

Normally in bberry devices, the battery charge will come down, if the number of email recievable are much more than a idle handset. More emails coming means the handset is active all the time which means the battery usage is also more.
I have got a Storm 2 (just 3 months old) if I deactivate the email browsing and only use for calls then the battery will last for atleast 5/6 days (sometime even more). If I use for email (I get normally 150 /200 emails in any working day and as such the battery will last for 2/2.5days (including calls).!

Are you sure about that? I've tried Opera and 3rd party applications. All fail because there is no SSL connectivity.

That sounds decent. But then the Storm 2 has a 1400 mAH battery.

The 8520 has 1150.
The Bold 2 has 1500.
The E63, E71, E72 all have 1500 mAH batteries.

Is it possible to set 'auto sync' timer and on/off for each mailbox separately in the 8520?

I finally gave in and reloaded Windows XP yesterday and the first program I loaded was the Desktop Manager DM for BB the latest version v 5.0.1
I installed the DM along with the Roxio Media Manager RMM and after a reboot it started giving me an error to load the UM.MSI file. So after searching I appended the DM and removed the RMM.
So since yesterday evening the DM is working fantastically on Windows XP and today I've created a system restore point incase anything goes bad I have something to fall back on
Cheers

Again the Windows XP started crashing after 2 days .

Now what I've done is change the OS and upgraded to Windows Vista. and the 1st s/w i loaded was the BB desktop manager. Ive not loaded any other s/w or drivers and the system seems pretty stable now. Been 4 days and i've been syncing the BB with the BBDesktop manager. Lets see how it goes.
Cheers

Guys I need to buy a BB within the week, undecided between Curve 8900, Bold 9000, and Bold 9700.

Is the keyboard of the 9700 a bit too small?
