If govt bans BES will gmail and yahoo still work on my BB or will they stop working too? I am under the impression that only corporate emails with high encryption will stop working.

As of now there is no guarantee on what will stay and what will get removed as unpredictable as who would rule the country next. Anyway I am preparing myself to try my hands on Symbian and Android babies.

In the worst case you stand to lose BES, BIS, messenger and e-mail. nothing to stop you from using G-Mail for these services. As for Facebook etc. you will have to go through Opera!

It will work there perfectly on your sim on int. roaming and also if you buy a sim there. But for bbm etc. to work the sim you get there will need to have blackberry services.

It would be better if you try this before leaving.
take any friend's SIM which is from other provider, and check if you are able to use basic telephony,

I am sure as its bought from Vijay Sales it would be unlocked, but its better to check it before screaming with Surprise on a far far land.

HI all.
I am looking at buying the new BB torch 9800. Though it has not yet been launched in India, there is a store in chennai where it is available. He says its the unlocked version and it has been brought in from singapore.
He also says that i wont have any problem with the phone in updating it and stuff.
I'm not sure how right the claims putforth are but one things that puts me off is he is aking 36k for it.
Any idea when it is going to be officially launched in India ?
ANy idea abt the price also.
Regards
Arjun

Today's newspaper carried a full page advertisement by BlackBerry about their current range and coming soon range. The coming soon range had 9105 (pink), 9105 (white) and BB Torch 9800. So I guess you should wait it out till it releases in India officially. Just follow the right people on Twitter and you will keep yourself updated.
