Re: Blackberry Phones and Services in India

Hi guys!
I am using an unlocked Bold 9700 with Idea postpaid and BB Internet Service.
I usually go to Dubai when I have holidays. I would like the use an Etisalat (telecom company in Dubai) SIM while in dubai. But will this affect my BB service once I come back to India and use my Idea SIM?

Re: Blackberry Phones and Services in India

Is there anyway to track a lost blackberry with PIN number?

Note: no tracking software installed though.

Re: Blackberry Phones and Services in India

if anyone uses the lost BB, and also activates BBM, then your friends who have you added on the BBM, should see you as online. I guess, thats a crude way of tracking!

Not sure on that but a way to frustrate the finder is to enable code lock for the phone. Then get to the code layer of the phone software and change the maximum number of retries to infinity (actually 255). This means the finder needs to keep trying 255 times (only few will know about this) to unlock the phone. On 256th time, the phone will be reset and all data erased (except the phone book). You still dont get the phone back though.

Re: Blackberry Phone problem Need Help!!

Hi, I have a blackberry bold 9700 and I upgraded my OS to 5.0.0.593 yesterday. The phone is functioning fine except for the below problems:

- Before the upgrade, my phone would lock itself if I inserted it in the holster. That is not happening anymore. In fact if I lock it and then insert it, its unlocking itself the moment its inside the holster and when pulled out of the holster.

- The second problem is that the font size if changed is working fine for all menu options except for the call screen and the name of the caller or the person I am calling is still being displayed in the default font size (which I feel is huge).

Any help/suggestions will be appreciated.

No you cant. But the purpose here is to frustrate the finder so like all thieves he will switch off the phone. Now if you had enabled the phone lock, it will ask for a password & he will keep trying and maybe give up or take it to a local market to unlock it.

Re: Blackberry Phones and Services in India

Guys, I'm considering moving from the iphone to the bold 9780. Is the bold sturdy? My usage is a bit rough. Also, is worth waiting for the Montana? But again, from what i see, the Montana is a touch, right?

Its a sturdy phone for rough usage. Montana is expected around July though it will also be a nice product.

Re: Blackberry Phones and Services in India

Wifey borrowed my blackberry handset for a week. She is on vodafone prepaid. Noticed one weird problem. Without making any calls or accessing internet/data-services explicitly, the balance kept on reducing. She would notice anywhere between 80p to couple of Rs getting deducted after every couple of hours. I took the handset and turned the data-services off, also turned off GPS and was expecting the problem to go away. Surprisingly, it persists. Any ideas?
