Re: Blackberry Phones and Services in India

I have a problem with the display of my Bold 9780. Is getting pixelated/blackened on the LHS & i think i will have to replace it. Any idea how much a new display costs in the grey market? Fed up with BB issues. First the speaker, then the slow OS. Since i cannot just give up the BB due to BBM connectivity with my clients, i am thinking of swapping my 9780 with my mom's 8520, get her the new Touchscreen 9380 Curve & buy a Samsung Galaxy Note for myself. Very tempted. Very.

+1. I am using a 9800 too from over a year and find it to be the best BB ever. Not a single issue, except that due to my high usage of emails, BBM and other apps I find it over the period to have become slower even though it has a 650mhz processor.

In current scenario, it would be best to upgrade to a 9810 which comes with a 1.2ghz processor and OS 7

A new display in the grey market would set you back by 2-4k. The 9780 is by far the best BB out there right now and i am surprised to see you having issues with it. Regarding the slow OS have you tried installing the latest firmware? Try deleting large or old mails from your BB. Try pressing ALT+L-G-L-G and clear the log.

The Note is simply a marvel. Held it in my hand & just did not want to let go of it. Plus it has a whopping Li-Ion 2500 mAh battery. the screen display is so crisp you want to eat it.

I was considering the 9810 too but with the limited apps on a Blackberry, it does not make sense spending 30k when you can get a droid phablet like the Note with thousands of apps on the Android Market.

I was also considering spending 2-4k on the display & retaining the same phone and use it till it literally breaks & buy the Note right away.

But, not for a moment can you dispute the connectivity & email integration a Blackberry offers. Its like your Outlook Express box along with the useful if not sometimes bugging BBM.

Confused still.

The Note is a great phone and you will regret not buying it.
I was using the Bold 3 (BB for 2+ years) and have now moved to the Note.

My question is will I be able to use chat, browser and other apps through wi-fi in places where there is no coverage or say abroad.
Guys any points on the above situation?

Tried some other sites but got confused

I don't think you can. Browser yes of course but the native apps will not work through wi-fi

Re: Blackberry Phones and Services in India

guys I have a problem please advise:
I used my BB overseas for a month with a prepaid local sim that got deactivated after a month before i returned back to INdia.
When i put my Airtel prepaid sim(399 plan) it refused to sync my email accounts.
Airtel customer care says that my PIN has been locked by the overseas operator and i have to call them and ask them to release it before they can sync my emails.
I have used my BB numerous times abroad but this never happened before.
Is there a way around this?
Has anyone faced this before..?

Re: Blackberry Phones and Services in India

Here's a question from a total Blackberry noob:

Suppose I have a BB and an airtel prepaid sim. I want to browse the net. I'm told that the simple Airtel net plans won't work for BBs. Could anyone please elaborate on data services for Blackberry devices?

Thanks in advance.

Very strange pricing. Till yesterday, 9360 was available online already for Rs 17.5-18k.

Also, 9860 is already available for Rs 20.5-21.5k.

8520 is also available for significantly lower price of Rs 8250.

So what's the real deal here? Another marketing gimmick for the offline customers?

P.S. All the above prices are sourced from Saholic, Flipkart and Letsbuy.

Err Dude what's the logic of a price drop when online prices were already lower? Who cares about MRP in today's world?
