Re: Blackberry Phones and Services in India

Im using BIS399 on my Vodafone prepaid sim.
Now the problem Im facing is that after chatting with someone on bbm, or surfing the net for sometime, I always get this message on my screen : "Your last session cost was Rs. XX. Your new balance is Rs. YY "

Why am I getting this? These people keep on deducting balance for no reason because 399 plan has unlimited internet usage.

Sometimes even when my phone is idle, Rs 0.10 gets deducted on its own.
Once they kept on deducting balance till it was Rs. -12 ! I had to make a call at night but couldn't make that call because of this. Heck I couldn't even chat on bbm because all your data services get suspended for sometime if your balance goes in negative. I was really pissed at that time since it was 1am and I couldnt even go and get a recharge till morning.

Airtel's prepaid BIS plan (Rs.400 for a month or Rs.100 a week) totally rocks. It's 3G unlimited and since I have the BlackBerry Playbook, I can stream movies/music like there is no tomorrow!

Are you getting the 3G emblem on the right upper side (image attached)?

If yes, then I don't see any reason why you cannot get a high speed internet connection via the Playbook. I am able to stream lengthy Youtube videos without any buffering at all and also some film site (movies as long as 2 hrs or more) again without any buffering in between (maybe for 4 seconds initially) but then it's fine.

Oh..and I am using the BB Bold 9780 (OS 6.0). How about you?

Well, I got the PIN in this forum somewhere, had sent a request a while ago. However, there's no response so cancelled the request now. Maybe we can start a BB group. I dont know if we will need authorization from the Moderators. And also, can somebody develop a Team BHP app for blackberry, I'm sure BB users will contribute, if the need be.

Not sure why. Maybe something to do with Airtel's service in Delhi. Try with another BB from another provider to confirm this.

The logo only indicates that there is 3g service available and your device is capable. If the service is not activated, you will not get 3g speeds. The 3g data plan for blackberry is only available on postpaid and starts at 599 per month. This is for airtel delhi. 3g gives good speeds on bb and playbook but it ducks battery. I deactivated 3g plan within a month.

Rosh, you saying BIS+3G unltd at 400pm?
Vodafone charges 300 extra for 3g plan along with BIS charges!

Then I guess Airtel Kerala is way better. It's Rs.100 per week for BIS with 3G unlimited (on the phone or the Playbook, not tethering) or Rs.400 for a month, and BTW, it's prepaid, not sure how it would be for postpaid.
Been using it for the past 1 year and it's amazing. Wonder if it's an offer they may take off sooner or later!

Re: Blackberry Phones and Services in India

I'm using Idea in AP circle and paying 399 pm for unlimited BIS with 3G. Same plan when I was using Airtel in AP too.

In summary, both Airtel and Idea offer unlimited BIS on 3G for 399 pm on prepaid. The trick is to activate 'Pay-as-you-go' 3G before you activate the BB services.
