Re: Blackberry Phones and Services in India

Any idea if the 9780 ( bold 3) has a Li-po battery, some sites say Li-on, What ever said the Bold has better batt life than the others...
I lost my BB and now am looking for another, My gut is to go for a Bold 3 again.. any suggestions.
My use -
lots of calls! (15- 60 calls per day)
above average use for emails, chats n BBM etc
low internet use
very low media use.
whats my best bet in terms of batt life and utility

No idea about the type of battery. From the BB stable, the curve series ( especially the 8520) has the best battery life and even the BOLD has really good battery life.

The touchscreen phones usually suffer from a lower battery life.

My dad has been using a 9780 for a while, he also praises the battery life!
Btw, How much is the 9780 now?
I would say consider getting the bold 9790. It's almost the same dimensions, good battery, new os and better specs.

Only Bold 2 and 3 have good battery life, none of the others. What use is the Curve's battery when half its battery life is spent in the phone hanging

Very true. My 8520 would easily last a day without any tweaks. But with 9360 I was forced to charge twice in a day at least. Finally after a lot of tweaking and OS updates, I managed to extract a full day charge. But by then it was enough to put me off the BB fascination.

Bold, especially the 9780 truly is a legendary device. Also, how I feel OS7 is a massive battery drain irrespective of the series.

Forgot to mention, I got the new BBM 7 with wifi voice calling. And man its pretty damn clear. I don't know how much people use Skype on their phones, etc but calling through BBM is certainly going to be pretty convenient.

9790 is around 25K but battery life is no where near 9780.

9790 is the bold 5,yeah?
I've just picked up one in white for my dad for 25 odd.
All bb services on 2g are activated, and in use, and it still holds about a third of the charge at 7-8 pm.

Re: Blackberry Phones and Services in India

Help, I cannot get BBM7 on App World. It says it is unavailable for your device.
I have a 9360, OS 7.1.0.746, Airtel Network (Maharashtra).

Why is it not showing up for me to download? Any ideas?

Re: Blackberry Phones and Services in India

Duplicating my post from the mobile phones thread:
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

I have been experiencing a signal fade on my BlackBerry Bold 9700 for the past few days. The network (esp EDGE) is comparatively weaker in many places and it totally goes out of signal in nooks and corners where the signal would otherwise be weak.
I swapped the sim card to another BlackBerry in the house and it behaved like it did prior to this illusion of mine.

The 9700 is really good hardware for me and I'm afraid I will not be able to settle now with the current touchscreen fad. Any particular way or part that I can swap to fix this issue?
