@Fillmore,
The switch % will not be 100% for the cases you mentioned and will not be 0% for EVIL -> DSLR.

Of course , I did not mean there will be a 100% switch in either segment.

In fact I too am waiting to switch from Point n shoot to Evil, waiting for either of the following.

1. Olympus Pen E PL-2 to come to India, and prices to reduce a bit.
Or
2. Lumix-DMC-GH2 prices to come down.

I had a bad experience with Sony once, so don't want to go with their cameras.

re: Mirrorless or EVIL Cameras

Pana does not seem to be too worried about getting their feet into the Indian market...they barely have display pieces in most of the shops I visited, other than the low end stuff. I was searching for the LX5 but did not find it anywhere..nor could I find any micro 4/3rd stuff, camera or lens's.

Why specifically the EPL2? Is this because you want the EVF? I am afraid that it will be a long wait especially if you are looking at the prices to come down as well.

Check out some video from E-PL1 + 9-18mm lens combo: https://www.team-bhp.com/forum/4x4-v...ml#post2219077

Edit: Better click on the video and see it from youtube webpage in full size. It is 720p video.

Re: The DSLR Thread

Today, I had a feel of Sony NEX 5 at Croma outlet. Its a cute, thin but serious piece of beauty by all means. Its stylish to hold and superb to shoot. Probably the world ahead is going to be split between P&S, DSLRs and EVIL bodies. Who will win is a riddle as of now.

I had a feel of both the NEX-3 and NEX-5 yesterday. I found them stylish to hold but very difficult to shoot. Agree with your last point. EVIL is one of the best technological changes to come out in the camera world in some time. The winner in terms of numbers will shift back to Canon or Nikon even in this space as long as they see to it that their DSLR lenses can be used on an EVIL body.

Not sure if you guys know about this. Panasonic GH1 body + 14-42mm lens kit is available for $375 through their EPP program. You can check if you are eligible for their EPP program or not here - https://www2.panasonic.com/webapp/wc...atalogId=13401

@Gandhi,

This seems to be a very nice way to build in a repository of Official Email IDs. Seeing that this is from the US site, I think most of us should give this a miss.

Kenko

After the micros and minis, its the time for bikini .... Yeah!! an interchangeable lens camera possibly with 1/2.3" sensor by Kenko!!

Possible specifications:
  • C-mount (the one of 16mm and video-surveillance cameras)
  • 6mm f/1.4 standard lens
  • 14Mpix sensor of unknown size BUT should be 1/2.3″ for which 6mm real focal corresponds to 35mm on full frame camera, hence the sensor should be the widely-spread 1/2,3″ 14+ Mpix sensor from Sony
  • No RAWs, only JPEGs
  • Magnesium-alloy body
  • Available in February 2011
  • MSRP: ¥30,000 ≈ $350

Read more on PhotoRumors.com:

Interestingly, the rear reminded me of Leica M9/M8: :-D

I would leave it your imagination, what you would want to call the front:

PS: Good things in the entire news/rumour is the C-mount, f1.4 lens and price($350??)!

Electronic Viewfinder - Check
