I used to post a lot in the early day. But these days most of my pics are about people, both family and office. Since they are private, I don't tend to share much now.

But if you want to see what I do with my OMD EM5 MkI and MkII (yes, I own both), here are couple albums.

Motor shows are the most difficult places to shoot, because of the almost psychedelic lighting. Yes, my OMD EM5 mkII could manage well. Check out the Tokyo Motor Show, I like the JLR one most.

I never shoot with flash, that is an area I never explored much. So I am an ambient light shoot. I like shooting food that is presented well. And I always shoot in the light available in the restaurant.

So IMO, it helps to use DXOmark scores as a broad, relative guideline, but trust one's eyes and experience when taking a final decision.

Analyzing the gears, I realized that many of these photos were taken with older cameras. Bottomline: time spent out shooting outweighs reading/lusting about gear, which I am often guilty of :)

Too true on the scoring. Like your images!

Nothing wrong about reading/lusting about new kit. We are probably all guilty of that to some extent.

There are hundreds of my images on TeamBHP on various threads:

Mostly about various (classic) car shows I attend:

Most of my photography is travel and street photography. I’m doing a project with the Royal Photographic Society called Rockin Rotterdam. The aim is to take one creative photo of every street in Rotterdam. On some streets that could be easy, on some it is very difficult.

I have done two post codes by myself:

http://www.rockinrotterdam.eu/galler...aalhaven-noord

And I do stuff like this one:

Mirrorless or EVIL Cameras-tulip-13-22.jpg

I have two websites, but they are both a bit dated havent added anything new for years.

Thanks for sharing Samurai. I love shooting at Motor shows and I know how tricky the lighting can be. It took me couple shows to get it right. Some of my Auto show pics are here. I shoot mostly with available light and I don't shoot people at all. I did try some shots with strobes and it can get really interesting. For people photography it makes a huge difference.

Wow! Jeroen you have traveled a lot. I enjoyed your "Only in America" set and all your street photography. I don't get much into the other sections of the forum so I did not come across your photos on other threads.

Great to see such diverse genres and photos.

Each genre calls for its own skills. E.g. if I look at food, I will have to do conscious thinking to even figure out what perspective might appear nice. But when I see an animal, I usually instinctively know what I want.

Re the last photo from Jeroen: might be fun to do use a ND filter, slow shutter speed to make the water smooth, and shoot when the fountain is side or backlit by the setting or rising sun. With the same flower backdrop.

As you will see from my car show pictures, I typically don’t do modern car shows. Mostly classic cars and our car events. I use available light, polariser filter and very often a tripod. Never a flash, come to think of it I don’t even own a flash.

I think, the trick to good, interesting car show pictures is not so much the lighting, but the composition. The lighting is more the technical part, obviously you need to get it right and that can be tricky. What with all the spots and glare. But composition will ensure whether you get an interesting picture. Once you feel comfortable on how you deal with the light, it will be composition that will make your picture stand out. Before you know it you end up with hundreds of pictures, all of cars, more or less shot from the same few positions. I like to constantly chance my point of view, go high, go low, go close, go far, go for detail, go for wide etc. I do like to get people in my car pictures too, but I don’t like people posing.

Each to it’s own and there is no right or wrong. I do believe getting people into one's images could, potentially, vastly improve the impact of your pictures. No matter what the image is about, be it cars, scenery etc. So you might want to try that. Most people like to see other people. People in a picture adds relevance, dimension, feeling etc.

Although I have done my share of portrait courses, I don’t really portraits much.

My last course was with Didier Verriest in Belgium. He is also a member of the Royal Photographic Society. He works mostly from his studio. So he is a real studio artist. It was hugely interesting to see him work in his studio and get his explanation and tips on how to light out topics. But it’s just not my thing. For one thing, I like being outdoors!

One of my favourites of my Indian street photography, fish market Pondicherry.

Yes, i could have done that, but I chose not to. It was a very windy day and I liked the way the wind blew holes in the water curtain. This image was taking last Saturday at the Keukenhof.

Wold famous for it’s bulbs. I have only been there a few times, usually when we have visitors. This place has more than 7.000.000 flowers and every day several tens of thousand of people traipse through this park. I wanted to take a few pictures that capture the essence of the park, without them being traditional flower and or bulb pictures.

A few more:

I do use ND filters to “freeze” water. Here are some recent images from a workshop with Paul Sanders. http://www.paulsanders.biz

He is also a member of the RSP and he took us out for a full day on the beach and showed us how he uses filters.

I like the ones with patterns - flowers, wooden posts. Nice.

I haven't done formal courses or workshops though, I mostly learn by practicing and reading and looking at experts in my genre. Somewhat of an autodidact.

I mostly photograph people these days, so I can't share much. This one is from the recent office sports day.

I shoot people only a couple of times per year, mostly my daughter.

Wow! Amazing specs. On paper.

Wonder if the specs will result in commensurate real life performance.

But this is a shot fired across the bows of Canikon, who had a duopoly in the digital era for sports and wildlife.

This thrashes the 1dX MKII and D5 into pieces. It's surreal that it shoots at 20fps without any shutter sound. 1/32000 of sec shutter speed is awesome. Imagine not needing an ND filter to use those f1.2 lenses on a bright day wide open!! All this for 4500$ is great. Now if this camera performs and Sony makes a 200-400 f4 with a built in 1.4x teleconverter like the canon that would satisfy a lot of wildlife photographers. I got to go earn a lot of money now before dreaming :).

After my initial reaction, I am thinking that there is a big difference between paper specs and real life performance. Let's see how it does in challenging conditions. Something like Nikon 1 had amazing speed., was a flop. Sony is known to have fantastic specs on paper, but they don't hold up for action shooting.

Anyway I hope Nikon gets its act together after this kick.

And it becomes extremely challenging to shoot when the kid is autistic and doesn't like to pose. I have very few good shots of my younger son because of this.

Here is both of them.

They already surpassed Nikon In US Full Frame market share. But like Canikon they are no longer competitive in price, especially after the success of the A7rmk2, A6500 .
