Re: The Quintessential Tablet PC Thread (Android, Apple, BB et al)

Hello,

Any Nexus 7 users here? I am planning to get my Nexus 7 32GB 3G variant next month when it goes on sale in US & Aus etc. Someone told me that one cannot copy paste movies my simply connecting USB with PC / Laptop.

Can someone please shed some light on this. I know Nexus 7 has no SD card slot but i guess 32GB & 3G is an awersome VFM deal at $299.

Thanks.

Yes, I do. Below are the steps:

1. On the status bar, tap Settings > Wi-Fi.
2. In the drop-down list, tap Saved Networks. To delete the saved wifi network, tap the pen icon . Beside the network, tap Trash can Icon.

Thanks. I was able to delete and reinstall now. The intermittent connectivity issue seems to have been resolved ( will know for sure in few more days) but, the range issue remains

It is a normal copy paste job only. It supports limited video formats by default like MPEG-4, H.264, VP8, H.263, but you can get MX Player or VLC Player from play store to play avi, mkv videos/movies.

Instructions below

Yes, i feel the same. The nexus 7 is a complete VFM android device. It is very addictive and reading books or watching video/movie in 16:9 is fun.

Thats great news. Thanks for sharing.

If its 3G it should allow voice calls atleast. Wonder if video calling is there or not.

3G does not mean it allows voice telephony. It only has a data modem on board and will not support voice. Voice/video can be done using a VoiP app like gtalk, or skype though.

Taken from nexus7 website. Link

Nexus 7 can now operate on more than 200 GSM providers worldwide
+ Gsmarena shows that the tablet comes with a SIM. Unfortunately the google nexus7 website doesnt talk about specs at all.

I'm not sure what your trying to say. The nexus link you posted clearly mentions mobile "data" networks.

Also GSMarena always puts up in the specs if it is a voice/data tablet. From this link:

Quote:
Tablet with no support for GSM voice communication, SMS, and MMS.
http://www.gsmarena.com/asus_google_...lular-5091.php

it's the same with any tablet that has 3G like the iPad.

For the range issue, reset the router to factory settings after noting down the configuration. Dont just take backup and restore the configuration but enter it manually after resetting.

Guys

I am planning to get Nexus 7 32GB from Australia. $299 wifi & $349 3G. I am not sure if i should get wifi only or wifi+3g. If i use data from my fone using teethering do i get proper 3G speeds or i loose out?

80% times it would be used on wifi at home or office and remainder times i will always have my phone with me. I am not sure if I should spend that extra $50 for 3G model and then also spend on am extra SIM with 3G services OR just get wifi model amd use teethering from my Defy+ and get 3G activated on my existing number.

Please advise.

Thanks

Wifi 32GB is ideal and should suffice. But when one buys such a thing, we always think, its only 50$ more. So why not !

Hi

I agree with u, since its only $50 (2500 rs) approx i am thinking is it worth paying that extra or just get 3G activated on my existing number and use teethering when out of wifi zone. Also if i am using internet via mobile hot spot; do i get proper 3G speeds or i loose out on speeds?

Thanks
