Ultrabooks are indeed more value for money compared to any of the tablets, only problem is that they are more expensive. But they are cheaper in US compared to India.
Thanks acurafan for suggestion and Mr.dipen also suggested for 'ultrabook'. But, after careful consideration in all aspects (ofcourse price also), tab will be right choice for me. Because in most situations, I can refer tabs but cant 'ultrabook' like laptops. So either surface or asus epad will suit my requirements.

Re: The Quintessential Tablet PC Thread (Android, Apple, BB et al)

All,

I am sure I "need" a 7inch budget tablet
Price point expected - INR-10~12K

Use & preference (arranged per priority)

1. Movie watching while travelling -- ( longer backup & OTG-USB HDD support expected )
2. Reading stuff ( handheld - hence, 7" )
& majorly intended use is travel-based, so I don't want to lug around a 10" ( UNLESS, it really is something AMAZING! --within the considered price point - addressing point 1 & 2 )
I did my research - and zeroed in on the following options-

A-Ainol Novo 7 Venus
http://www.ainolindia.com/ainol-novo...-bean-ips.html

It's up for pre-order now. INR 9,990/-

USP -
1.5GHz Quad core A9 proc + 1280X800 HD Resolution IPS Screen
GC 1000 Gaphic Processor

B- Ainol Novo 7 Flame
http://www.ainolindia.com/ainol-novo-7-flame.html

It's in the market & available. INR 10,990/-
USP-
1.5GHz A9 Dual core + 1280 x 800 (Full HD)
GPU-Mali 400 Dual Core
Internal storage - 16GB
Battery - 5000 MAh ( Vs 4000~ of other two options )

C- CoreX2 3G

http://shop.iberry.asia/index.php?pa...mart&Itemid=29
It's up for pre-order - INR 10,990/-
USP-
1.6GHz Dual Core + 1280X800 HD Resolution IPS Screen

Help in solving the confusion is appreciated,
Introducing more options is appreciated too.

Willing to place order this week or so.

Thanks,

Ace.

Among the choices you have presented, I would go for Ainol Flame. I have read a lot of reviews about this tablet and overall impression has been good.

@ driverace
Ainol Novo 7 Venus looks fantastic for the money. just one thing to notice. all these 3 models doesn't have GPS function.

Yup, thanks for that.
I was zeroing in on the same
Just wondering if
Quad core over Dual core is better deal than getting
5000MAh over 4000MAh + 16GB over 8 BG.

Though - 2nd on priority
I think it wouldn't matter much-
The dual core would play almost all apps/games currently on the market, and is good for another year or two I guess!

Venus does look awesome for the money - but, given my use, Flame suits better ( also being a proven product - per reviews ).

No GPS is fine by me.

Thanks,

Ace.

Re: The Quintessential Tablet PC Thread (Android, Apple, BB et al)

Got the Nexus 10 last month from US. Great screen. Watching movies shared through DLNA is a joy.
Not as good as a Amoled but the screen is still a treat to look at.
Was contemplating between Ipad, Nexus 10, Asus Prime and finally couldnt decide between the Ipad 4 and the Nexus. Have both iphone and SGS 2 so thought I would prefer android ecosystem the third time. Hence went with it.

Apart from occasional crashes, long recharging time I dont have any other gripe about the tablet.

Re: The Quintessential Tablet PC Thread (Android, Apple, BB et al)

I'm looking to buy a tablet for some time pass basic usage.
don't want to spend more than 5k. I'll use it for games, Internet, YouTube. no voice calls or Skype. i don't need GPS too.

I've short listed these :
Micromax Funbook infinity - 4.5k
Karbonn Smart tab 3 Blade - 4.4k
Swipe 3d tab - 5k
Swipe pocket tab - 4.6k

anyone has any experience with these?
how reliable are micromax and karbonn? any a.s.s. experiences?

should i consider anything else?

thanks.

Re: The Quintessential Tablet PC Thread (Android, Apple, BB et al)

I am planning to buy a tab almost exclusively for browsing team bhp, when I am at home.

My main usage:

Browsing Team-bhp using a browser, using WIFI - 90%
Reading e-books, few low graphic games like logo quiz and a movie once in a blue moon - 10%

My budget cap is 5K.

Must have features:
7 inch screen
1GHz processer
512 MB ram
Battery capacity -3000 mAh or more

Nice to have features:
10 inch screen
Dual core processor
1 GB Ram
GPU
Rooting and availability of custom Rom

My main choices are between Micromax Funbook Infinity and iBerry Auxus AX01. If it is really worth, I can get the HCL ME.

Which one will be the best fit for my purpose? Are there any other models which I should take a look at?

Re: The Quintessential Tablet PC Thread (Android, Apple, BB et al)

@strangewizard/Expresshand.

The problem with these tabs are that the manufacturers do not give the right specification, these days all these so called chinese branded Indian tabs battery does not last more than 2 to 2.5 hours, whether they are specified as 2500 Mah or 4000 Mah

If you are looking at Low cost budget tabs, battery cannot be guaranteed

1. Micromax Infinity : 4500
2. Bsnl Penta IS709C : 3990 (YOU MAY GET IT CHEAPER TOO)
3. Nxg's Atab 3rd lite : 4400

Personally I have used the Penta tab, good tab but gives only 2 hours on continious usage, none of this tabs have HDMI out, please note

Thank you for chipping in, Loksin. I am aware of this spec mismatch between the published spec and the real spec. that is the primary reason to include HCL in my list.

I am looking for about 3~4 hours of continuous browsing of Team-Bhp using the tab. I hope the funbook battery will last at least that much.
