Re: The Quintessential Tablet PC Thread (Android, Apple, BB et al)

^Good to hear. Finally we have something on the Playstore.
Hope the 3G versions are launched too.

What is the price with shipping?

Re: The Quintessential Tablet PC Thread (Android, Apple, BB et al)

I wish to sell my 4 month old tablet, Samsung Tab 2 P3100. I have installed some paid apps like Sygic, swiftkey, etc. Should i uninstall them before selling, and will I be able to use them in the next android device I buy? Please suggest.

Also, how much can i expect to get out of it, considering it's in good condition.

Thanks.

Apps are tied to your google account. Best is you should do a factory reset of the tab. Because the tab would be tied to your account.

You should seamlessly be able to install what you have bought on google play.

The only confusion for me, is how does one easily sync the apps smartly when he/she owns more than one Android device tied to the same account.
I hope installer just see which all apps are currently active and tries to install the maximum # of apps to the new device that you add to your account.

What I also dont know is, how does the account for a local syncing?
(Account Vs Android Phone Vs Android Tab for example).

Changes specific to tab (adding/subtracting apps) should not reflect on the phone. This can be a potential problem if one is not synced on the OS
version across his/her set of Android devices. And that is highly improbable.

If you have different Android devices under the same id then it gives you a drop down menu selection for each app. You can choose on which device you'd want to install a specific app. Local sync happens on a per app basis so that aspect is also taken care of.

However I'd always advise having individual id's linked to different devices.

Re: The Quintessential Tablet PC Thread (Android, Apple, BB et al)

Anyone here own a HP Touchpad with CM9 or CM10 installed? If on CM9, have you installed the latest nightly build? Has that improved battery life when the device is sleeping?

If CM10, hows it?

Thanks Nishant. But is'nt multiple devices to the same ID a very probable scenario? (An android phone and a tablet? )
Multiple phones I agree its not a right paradigm. But sharing the Ids across multiple device types should a scenario which needs to be solved for.

This is supposed to work if you have enabled auto-update apps from the Play Store settings and individual apps are allowed to auto-update. In that case when you login with same id on a different device, it installs all the active apps for your account. But this doesn't work as well because it gets confused when you have multiple devices associated with your account. Google needs to come out with something simple which works for apps+data sync across devices (it's not a simple problem to solve though).

What do you mean by local syncing?

I meant the same what you described. Google should locally understand the sync between its account and the device, uniquely based on the device type. May be as you said its not an easy problem to solve. But definitely a problem which needs a good and simple solution.

Re: The Quintessential Tablet PC Thread (Android, Apple, BB et al)

Hi fellas, I won a iPad2 (3G+WiFi). Still serving me good.
Wanted to know if any of you have used a Bluetooth keyboard along with it? If so, how is the experience and is it worth investing?

My main dilemma is about buying a new laptop. The old one crashed and I have sold it. Now for things like uploading resume, content to web, iPad is useless. Hence was thinking should I really buy a laptop to overcome these few issues? Any suggestions/ workarounds to solve them from iPad. Tried a few apps but not satisfied!

I came across this news, so thought of sharing on this thread.

Zync Quad 9.7"

@JKDas, @Raccoon: This zync tablet seems to take over crown of India's best "value for money" tablet with premium features (at least on paper).

^^^Sure looks good on paper at least! But how good an idea is it to buy this brand?
