Is there any video player better than mx player? I find it quite nice and capable of playing all videos.

A link to any good tempered glass for the device would be really appreciated as well. Thanks in advance.
You might want to change the partitions to F2FS, leaving system intact as EXT4. I too agree that rolling back to the last official stock rom or 4.3 rom would be more manageable for this device. It is very difficult to run the recent updates and apps, without effort, on a 1GB ram. I had to replace it with nexus 7 2013.

I have zeroed down on two-
1-Dell Venue 8 3000 Series Tablet
2-HP Stream 8 Tablet

The tablet must have a sim option.
Hi rakesh_r!

I recently picked up a Dell Venue 8 3000 Series tablet.(Model 3840 I think)

It comes with 1GB RAM and is pretty slow and hangs quite a lot. IMHO it is not worth. Look for something with at least 2GB of RAM.

Cheers

The tab is currently unusable due to the crazy RH-01 error. I need to take some weekend time out to put a new ROM on it.

My money would be on Mi Pad unless you have a preference for windows.

If you read through the last couple of pages, there are recommendations for a sub-10k tablet. If you can stretch a bit, mi-pad is a good option.

Actually, I made a mistake in my original question. I am actually looking for a 7" inch tablet. Not a 8" one. Sorry about that.

Re: The Quintessential Tablet PC Thread (Android, Apple, BB et al)

Purchased the Mi Tablet. Impressions from the first 3 days.

- The 2GB RAM is useless because most of it is used by MIUI. It's like working with a 1 GB tablet with stock Android.
- MIUI is buggy. Several apps show bugs not there where run from Android.
- Many things which are easy to do on Stock Android are difficult on MIUI.

I wouldn't recommend the Mi Tab. MIUI may be ok on a phone but on a tablet used heavily, it's just not convenient.

The on paper specs definitely seemed very good at the given price point. I'm sorry it is not as good as it promised to be. But do you experience lag because of the ram usage? If yes, then it can be managed by switching off memory optimization in settings.

Yes, now I switched off memory optimisations and also turned off Animations. Now it works almost as fast as a 1 GB RAM stock Android.

Does any know any tweaks for increasing touch sensitivity of the Mi Pad? The sensitivity is really poor and you have to press really hard as compared to other tablets.

I don't have a direct answer to this but I had a the opposite case with Moto G Turbo.

I had installed a nice tempered glass on the phone and after that the touch become somewhat more sensitive. Trying to scroll, it would register a 'tap' action and would open up things (e.g. scrolling through contacts, some contact would open up as if I have tapped on it).

I got rid of that tempered glass and went with a normal film screenguard (very cheap) and I have no problems after that.

So, sometimes a screen guard can alter the sensitivity. Maybe you can try that if you don't find an answer?

Hello folks,

Can you point in the right direction to select an android tablet with rear LED flash? There seem to be very few in the 10" screen size. Needs to be android.

Re: The Quintessential Tablet PC Thread (Android, Apple, BB et al)

Looking to buy a tablet for dad's use. Budget around 12k.
Usage would be limited to website surfing, youtube, whatsapp and some light gaming. Only wifi tablets should work.
Its the MiPad which I think should be good for our requirements but the only thing which goes against it is the fact that this tab has been around for 2 years now!
What do you guys suggest, should I go for it or are there better options available.

Present MiPad owners, have you upgraded to MIUI 7? How's the user experience with this update? Also it would be really helpful if someone could share their overall usage experience with this pad.
Thanks in advance.
