Today went to the dealer again to pay a part of the amount. Told him I want the delivery on 27th.
As I had gone for the sunshine yellow color initially the dealer had told me that the particular colour is not with them and they will have to order it. Today they said they have a 2011 manufactured "2012 model" of the same colour and were giving 10k discount on it. I clearly told the customer agent and the manager that I want the 2012 manufactuted model only, and not to try to sell me the 2011 model.
So when I get the delivery how do I ensure that the model that I have is of 2012 manufacture only. In what all places is the year mentioned like car body/documents.
Please help

Nano's VIN is on a sticker which in my case is on the front quarter glass, driver side. It should also be inscribed on the chassis, i think the at the bottom where driver-side door opens. It is also on a steel plate which is fixed in the bonnet area. It should be starting with MAT.

What should be the odo reading on a new Nano?
Is it possible to temper the reading as the odo is Digital in Nano?

Would suggest the Nano or the Spark, I love both their shapes and the nano is cannot be beaten for space.

The Nano I belive also comes with an attractive maintenance package like the Spark.

The Nano will probably get a smile to your face more than the other two cars.

She was extremely sceptical about it and had me looking at i10, Beat & Brio.
But for me - more than budget it was about getting as compact a car as possible since I already have the lovely Manza for everything else.

I have a Nano LX 2012 purchased in Feb'12 and it's been driven almost 1000 kms till date without any issues so far. It has a peppy engine; amazing interior space and is economical. Should have had a power steering though. Go for a TD and then take your decision.

My Manza is also a special edition (Celebration Edition) - 1 of 1000 made & only 1 of it's kind in Mumbai.

It would be AWESOME to have a special edition Nano as well.

My wife has actually started to rant/yell at me to have two medium/biz sized cars (XUV 500 and Linea T-Jet). Yesterday, by chance I bumped into the Maruti and TATA showrooms and was fairly impressed by the NANO. I am just wondering whether buying a NANO would make sense. People advised me to sell my Jet and buy something else. May be a small car which my heart is not letting me do. So decided to retain my T-Jet.. Nano is going to be a third one if I buy one. Have summarized my requirements and if NANO owners can say whether NANO will fit my bill, it will be of great help.

1. USE only in CITY.
2. Ease of driving(for a lady)
3. Decent Mileage (15kmlt??)
4. Dirt cheap to maintain (like a two wheeler)
5. Ability to potter around with 2 ppl (max 3)
6. Basically, it SHOULD to be a FILL IT and FORGET it car for the next 5 yrs.

My usage will be like 500kms a month. So avg of 6000-8000kms a year and Five years, looking at 30000-40000kms max to max. Will the NANO hold itself for 5 yrs?

I heard some "Water Speepage" issues in NANO. Is it still there in 2012 model? What are the known issues in NANO?

What are the Service intervals for NANO and how much will each of the Service Cost? I have an Activa which my wife uses - Will it be a wise decision to sell my Activa and buy a NANO?

Pls start pouring your suggestions guys. I am damn confused.

No.. I was advised to sell the Jet and Buy a Punto 75 which I wasn't inclined much.

and new Alto 800 is 3.63L. Is it really worth that 1.63L more than the nano for the use that I have quoted? Thats a hard sell to my brain!

Nano is a decent car for the money you pay for. Its small, easy to drive, has good driving position, reasonably peppy till 60-70 kmph.

What puts me off are bits like a Battery that is *inside* the cabin, and also the mileage i have known from real users is not too great as was initially projected when the car was launched.

Fill it and Forget it?
A used Alto would fit the bill perfectly !

The Nano is a perfect car that is perfect for all your requirements. I own a Nano too and I am extremely happy with it. The Nano is made for city use with easy parking and the awesome turning radius. My Nano gives me about 18-19 kmpl in bumper to bumper traffic and on highways gives me a decent 22 kmpl. Maintenance wise it costs me 2500 odd bucks once a year and the Nano comes with 4 yr warranty by default so no tension at all.

I own a Nano LX of the previous batch and I have no complaints , but I have seen that the Nano 2012 is even better. Only one advice if power windows and colored bumpers dont matter to you then instead of going for the LX model it makes more sense to go for the mid version i.e. CX. All the best with your decision.
