Re: i10 iRDE2 -> No reviews, no ownership reports, no test drives :(

Called up Hyundai customer care and the response was positive. Lets see if i get to test drive this rare species.

Would seriously consider buying it if it drives the way IRDE1 did. My main requirement like city driving/front power windows/tachometer/smooth gearshift are all covered in this model.

Keeping fingers crossed.

Re: i10 iRDE2 -> No reviews, no ownership reports, no test drives :(

We own a Hyundai i10 ERA iRDE2 and have driven for around 900 KMs. I have to get it serviced soon. Overall I am happy with this car.

Let me see if I can put a ownership report and be the first one to do so in couple of days.

No Rohan, did not get to test drive iRDE2.
Had anyway ruled out i10 due to other issues, most important between the lack of space between the left side of knee and central gear console.

Re: i10 iRDE2 -> No reviews, no ownership reports, no test drives :(

I have occasionally seen a new white i10 irde2 in my office parking.

Given all the various badging on the car (i10, Era, irde2 etc), me and a friend walked all around it, trying to understand (unsuccessfully) how this differed from the normal i10s.

There is not much difference between the appearance of irde i10 and vtvt i10. The latter has indicator integrated ORVMs, VTVT badging, rear wiper and rest is almost same.

There's no way torque peak went from 2800 to 4500.

You are mixing up power and torque data.

Writing is on the wall my friend!

Check the official i10 brochure!

http://www.hyundai.com/in/en/wcm/gro...ent/298343.pdf

Cannot compare it with the iRDE1 of the old i10 since that brochure has obviously been taken off from the website.

Anyways, by comparison, the same 1086cc block on the Santro Xing has a peak torque of 9.8kgm @ 3000 RPM.

Official Brochure: http://www.hyundai.com/in/en/wcm/gro...ent/262140.pdf

Did you get to test drive an irde2 variant before the purchase ?

Re: i10 iRDE2 -> No reviews, no ownership reports, no test drives :(

Hyundai will only try to push the Kappa2 variant!
They really don't consider the iRDE2.
That's the reason they don't have the Santro Xing on display.
The iRDE2 isn't much different from the Santro Xing's iRDE ( epsilon ) engine.
The low end torque will be very useful in the bumper-to-bumper city traffic but the thing is that the iRDE runs out of breath in the highways! It starts to struggle after 110kmph. But the Kappa2 on the other hand is a champ! It can handle both highways and City traffic with ease!

Re: i10 iRDE2 -> No reviews, no ownership reports, no test drives :(

I am a bit confused between the IRDE1 IRDE2 and the Kappa.
- When was the IRDE2 launched?
- Are IRDE2 and Kappa the two engines i10 have now?
- Have the IRDE2 been coming with the refreshed body only?
- Were at any point of time the IRDE1 and IRDE2 sold simultaneously(except clearing old stock)? Or in other words, was the IRDE1 replaced with the IRDE2?
- Apart from http://www.team-bhp.com/forum/hatchb...ml#post2486769, is the major difference between IRDE1 and IRDE2 restricted to the change in body?

Why I am asking this is that my in laws have a 2008 Magna with the old body. Can I assume it is the IRDE1?

It is really simple. When i10 was given the facelift, the engines were also tweaked and hence renamed.

So irde became irde2 and kappa became kappa2 or kappa VTVT. 1 and 2 variants were never sold side by side.

The engine variant is displayed on the front fender in all i10 variants, you can check on the particular car. 2008 magna could either be irde or kappa, since magna is the overlapping variant which is offered in both engine options.

Thanks Rohan. That was simple enough. So my in-laws have the IRDE1 and not the IRDE2 or the Kappa. Here is a short review I could muster up with - http://www.team-bhp.com/forum/test-d...undai-i10.html

If the carwale comparison is anything to go by, won't the IRDE2's change in max torque band (from 99@2800 RPM for the IRDE1 to 99@4500 RPM on the IRDE2) a bit dampener in city drive-ability, compared to the IRDE1?
