I really worry about the way the dealers handle the car in the stockyward. The white chevrolet beat in the pic (next to your car) looks in bad shape. Good that you did the PDI and are happy with the car.

Dealer has received all the payments, but unfortunately its all late Friday evening, so things cannot proceed now. RTO does not work on Saturdays and Sundays.

So now the car will go for registration on Monday morning and we should get the delivery on Wednesday morning along with all accessories fitted.

I am planning to put dual tone leather seat covers, Black outline and grey/beige center, since the interiors are all Beige.

Hey Ajay, many hearty congratulations to you and the missus! Only just now I saw this thread and read through it.

You made the correct choice, buddy. The Spark is an excellent choice, miles ahead of the Eon in terms of driveability and performance. Eon may be the more contemporary of the two but in terms of engine, refinement, road manners and performance Spark is pretty hard to beat. Add to that a load of nice features on offer, and all those discounts/free accessories, and it trumps Eon by a fair distance.

Thanks a lot. I am in the middle of writing the initial ownership report and it should be up soon with lots of pics.

As you mentioned rightly, Spark is a much better choice compared to the EON (IMHO) at this price point.

And regarding Senior-BHPian status, well...

I too was in the dilemma of Spark/Beat and ultimately settled for Beat. You made a sensible choice of power and comfort. Is the Spark stalks still conversely placed? Wish you many miles of smiles

The prices are an eyeopener for me. The Spark and Eon cost that much?! I thought the Spark costs around 3.75 on road and the Eon around 2.75 - 3 L.
I am especially surprised about the Eon prices.

I havent done the comparo, but what do you get extra in the Brio for that 50K that you dont get in the Spark?

Brio E-MT at 4.75 lacs does not have the following compared to the Spark:
1) Front fog lamps
2) Music system + MID with AUX/USB with 4 speakers
3) Rear defogger
4) All 4 power windows
5) Only two colour choices - White and Silver
6) 3 years FREE maintenance package at no extra cost
7) Mud Flaps
8) Mats
9) Remote lock

Besides the above, Brio's boot is not significantly larger and the legspace on the rear seat is comparable.

Brio wins hands down only in terms of the amazing iVTEC engine and Honda's reliability.

I admit I thought the Brio was around 4L OTR for base version.

I will stick to buying used petrol cars for now. Diesels are better bought new.

Hi guys. Need a second car for wifey. Was originally inclined towards the eon. Basic model (d lite+) is coming to around 3 lacs in Delhi with various benefits. Have even asked for a test drive today.
However, just going through some used cars on the relevant websites, saw some really good sparks at decent prices. E.g. a 2009 spark with around 39k on the odo for 1.6 L. In a dilemma now whether to get a new eon or a used spark.

Pls help.

Apologies for the back to back posts. Would like to add that this second car will only be a city runabout doing duty from home to officeand back. Daily mileage will not exceed 15 kms. I have read about the eon's 3 pot engine and 800 cc engine. But considering the low mileage, as long as its fairly driveable , it would be fine.

Used or new also depends on how long you plan to keep the car.
If you don't know how long you are going to keep it, used is a great idea. You end up saving 1l plus including lower depreciation over the next few years.

I have a Quanto and an older Indica which Is used very less. I was myself thinking of selling the Indica and buying a used city or something like that which not only serves as a good second car but also for my enthu drives when required.

I plan to keep the car for long. Even if its a used car, won't resell it. It will most likely go straight to the junk yard once I let it go.

The spark deal does look promising specially if you are so sure about the role of this car as strictly for office commute. Although if you plan to keep this for a long time then I will certainly recommend a new one. BTW how about the Nano?

As you have already mentioned that you don't intend to re-sell the car I would recommend the spark.

My take on it (Having owned one for 3 years)
1. For a city run-about, its decently powered and the 4 pot engine is very silent and tractable.
2. The resale is bad. ( Translates to lower buying cost for you)
3. Spacious (Comparatively)
4. Service costs are nominal.
5. Used to deliver 14 KMPL in city driving with 100 % AC.
And the icing on the cake!
6. You get it for half the price for a new car.

My suggestion is ditch both. Pick a used car which has done well like i10 or wagonr. Plenty of them available between 2-3 L. This would assure you spare parts till a long long time and also they are a step above the 2 cars you listed
